I lit a cigarette

Ok
Admittedly a bit of bait n hook in the title

But it's true

I was out biking with a friend in the mountains. He somehow dropped his lighter until the ravine lol.
This was right when we reached our destination & planned to chill there for an hour.

He's a guy who likes his cigarettes. We were a good half hour from civilization.

He half heartedly asked if I had a lighter. He knew I wouldn't because I vape.

So I said I don't but if you wait fifteen minutes I'll get your cigarette lit.
He was both flabbergasted & curious as to how I was going to get his cigarette lit.

So, fifteen minutes of vaping later.
I start uncapping my RDA and directly look at him while saying :

For you to smoke, I have to sacrifice - I say this while yanking out both wicks & firing it up & say, here ya go...
He immediately lights his cigarette.

The happiness in his eyes.... Lol
He wasn't expecting to smoke for a good while.
He said, you do have spare cotton, right?
I said nah. I don't bring cotton unless it's an overnight trip. But it's ok..don't worry about it
So.much.happiness

Haha

I certainly agree that this was a great click bait.
Worth it though.
As for your lighting, good on you.
I find it better the process you used and your comment to him.
That may stick in his mind and possibly get him to at least consider looking into vaping.
It may not, but the effort was there.

I chose to check out your thread with the intent to provide moral support because I thought you were feeling guilty but you did a GREAT job with your title.
kudos

Next time we go on a family camping trip, I am going to bring an old mod with an RDA with appropriate coil.

Then while I hold my Survival/Camp Knife and my Magnesium fire starter block that they all know I have never gotten to work well enough to start a fire, I am going to bet them that I can light a fire without using a match or lighter.

Then I "Modlight" the fire and collect my winnings!:vino:

Since it was a buddy..
I would have pulled the mouth piece off and told him to vape and stop being a bassackwards heathen.

Likewise. No way in hell I'd sacrifice my vape for a fucking coffin nail -- and then have to smell that nasty shit! I'd tell him he could either vape, or suffer. :)

Had this been me...dual coils correct?...I would've pulled one wick and used one side as a lighter and the other to keep vaping...might have been a hotter vape but oh well..two birds with one stone.

SO... my wife still smokes.... although I haven't smoked a cig in 2 years I do bring lit ones to her. NO harm no foul.

Besides this isn't a 12 step program..... it's actually OK to smoke..... just better when you dont.

For some of us, it might as well be a 12 step program, because even ONE will grab us by the lungs and refuse to let go until we fight it to the death. Some folks can smoke now and then and it never fazes them. I'm not one of them.

Limitations. We all have some, and it's good for each of us to know what they are.

Heh.. one of my FAVORITE Harry Calahan quotes... "A man's got to know his limitations." Women do too. :giggle: Seriously though... that relapse to dual-use I suffered in 2014 went on as long as it did (a month) because I had SERIOUSLY underestimated how fast and how completely smoking could get its hooks back into me.... Now I know. That won't happen again. :)

You do realize smokers are human too?
In fact, I even smoked a ciggie because I had no vape.

My comment & glance to him could've easily been from a Quentin Tarantino movie

Yah. That cigarette sucked. Ugh.

Had this been me...dual coils correct?...I would've pulled one wick and used one side as a lighter and the other to keep vaping...might have been a hotter vape but oh well..two birds with one stone.

I thought about that but the coil with the cotton still in would've splattered hot juice all over his face...

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with the occasional cigarette if you like it.

I quit cigarettes 12 years ago after smoking 1.5 packs a day for 10 years.
Since quitting I've easily had 20 cigarettes a year. Social cigarettes.

Limitations. We all have some, and it's good for each of us to know what they are.

I ride dirt bikes and super bikes. I know my limitations. I always stay 10% below my limit.

I Don't ride super bikes anymore.... because I tend to exceed the limitations of my bikes by 10%.... I try to keep a 20% margin vaping.

Today I ride a VTwin cruiser.. I still haven't learned limits. Considering my bike has almost 50% MORE HP than when built. But it tops out at around 160... my old bike did 200+.

I have done this for people but I refuse to pull both wicks and always make sure the other coil is juiced not a lot but enough to make some vapor :p

I've started a fire like this as well :p
