I need a new tank and need advise

Hi,

I am looking for recommendations please on a tank.

I currently use SMOK Alien with the Baby Beast. The baby beast is good while the coil lasts - I am sick of spending S*t loads of money on coils when some only last a day or so. I am letting them soak and not going too high on the wattage as well.

So I am after another tank that is similar, doesn't leak and prefereably with option of decent long lasting coils and maybe a rebuildable. Oh - And doesn't leak!
I like a lot of cloud and taste.

I am looking to buy today (uk) so any advise would be great.

Cheers.

I only use RDA/RTA's now but when I first started vaping I used the Smok BBB with the RBA head. Still use them on the road. Easy to build on.
The tanks I used with factory coils were the Crown 3's. I never had a problem with them.
The coils would last me about 2 weeks. However, I never vaped them over 40 to 50 watts either.

I am partial to top airflow RTAs, especially the GeekVape Zeus,
This. It's so simple to build and wick correctly that you very well may be able to do it blindfolded. It simply does not leak. I've fallen asleep with it, carried it all willy-nilly in a coat pocket to find out it's literally upside down, dropped it off my lap - nothing gets a drop out. Yet, it always clears and hits perfectly. One of the best tanks I've ever purchased, it's a daily driver.

I'm also partial to the Kayfun Prime. Thassa cool lil' guy for the supah-tight MTL action all up in my face. Mmm, peppery tobacco, gooooooooooood mornin'!

i've been considering the prime myself How restrictive is the airflow on it compared to something like the zeus

What wattage are you firing which Baby Beast coils at? I get 3K to 5K puffs out of my X4 Baby Beast coils firing them 20-25% lower then what the minimum recommended wattage is for them.

Also coil longevity depends on proper priming and break in of the coil Don't listen to the RBA/RTA/RDA is cheaper BS because if you do the math it really isn't and if you would rather be building go for it. Me I would rather be vaping.

Here's a really easy to build RTA that makes a ton of flavor and plenty of cloud. Single post screw, for simple coil install and can be mounted so AF hits it from bottom and 2 sides. Big wicking ports make it simple to wick. Doesn't leak. http://www.obsnsmoke.com/wuhuaqi/12.html

I would like to see your maths on that, I can buy a 100ft spool of wire and a bag of cotton to make 100's of coils for the price of a 5 pack of premade coils.

I do use premade coils for work, they are more convenient, but they sure aren't cheaper than making your own.

wow really? they put a triangle screw on there. Like we all have those laying around in a drawer. Between that and side fill and the fact the glass can fall off when accessing the deck, I can't see a single reason not to try it. The original crius had great flavor. Im sure this probably does too. Just wish companies would stop doing annoying things

It does have that triangle screw, for which they give you a driver. Their thought was harder to strip. If I loose the driver, which I doubt, I think a flat head will work or a different screw. It's easy to coil without taking the screw out. The top side fill doesn't bother me, it's easy to fill and doesn't create a vacuum to force a leak out the bottom like some top fills. I've never had the glass fall off, or even close.

Sure look at some of the people posting how they used 300 feet of wire in a couple of weeks. A box of coils at $10-$15 bucks lasts me months.

And one thing that is never calculated is the time because even though the materials cost for my DIY is Pennies an ML, my time is worth money and my DIY e-Liquids are one of the most expensive you could ever buy if it was for sale.

And 'some' people are making fancy coils, use them a few times and rip them out, but not most people, a spool of 100ft wire lasts me years and costs $5, as said I use premade too, but to say making your own is not cheaper is like saying buying store bought juice is cheaper than making your own, and you know that's not true either.

Nothing wrong with using premade coils, just like I don't like making my own juice, so I pay more for someone else to do it.

My wife like her uwell Valyrian tank, factory coils only, I build my own for my RDAs and RTAs, we vape about the same amount of juice a week, between 30-50mls.

I have to get her two coils a week at $6 a piece, that’s $50 a month just on her coils. I buy 100 feet of wire for around $4-5 dollars that will last me a year or more. Cotton balls cost me $3 and will last me 4-6 months easy.

And I build a lot, trying new builds and use many rdas, it’s almost free and my builds taste better and last longer than her premade coils.

As for time, it takes me all of 5 mins to rebuild a dual coil rda, less for my single coil rta. It’s also something I enjoy, so the time isn’t even a factor for me and I am very busy with kids, overtime at work, and an injured wife.

Now building my own box mods takes a lot of time and is inconvenient with my schedule, but it’s a labor of love.

I will never go back to factory coils again. They don’t last as long, taste as good, and cost too much.

Compared to the Zeus? Well the Zeus has an airflow that you can tighten down to nothing, so it's possible to MTL with a wee-wee-wee-tight draw by leaving a teeny tiny crack open. The build deck, though, is really made to suit bigger coils with bigger volume juice as its target. I'd say you can get the Zeus to a tighter draw than the Kayfun Prime, but I personally wouldn't recommend using it like that. It'd be like putting a go-kart motor in a Firebird frame.

The Prime though, down to one 'pip' is the tightest "true" MTL draw I've found. It's perfect for me, and I've been down the gauntlet and back again with "MTL" devices.

Being a K5 user for so long, the Prime and it's size, smaller deck and smaller tank size, kind of put me off initially. Figured it was one of those "why fix it if it isn't broken" type of issues, mis-spending my money as usual, chasing down the dragon. But after giving it a few months, I'm quite happy with it over the 5. It's tighter, it's more compact - it's everything I liked about the 5 and more - but smaller, would be my one draw back.

So apples to oranges, I'd say on this one. I like them both, a lot, but they're different tools. I like my driver, but I also like my hammer. Both drive metal into wood, just different methods. Yeah, I could bang away at a nail with the bottom of my driver, it would get the nail in, but it wouldn't be the proper tool to do the job.

Even a 10 pack of good pre-wrapped coils, can be had for 10$US. Add some cotton and your around $15 for what lasts several months. A little more time than oem coils, but we're only talking a few mins. For me, I get satisfaction of being able to choose coils and creating the vape I get, other than choosing wattage. I vaped Big Baby for about the last 16 months of my 'oem coiled attys' before getting rebuildable. I got tired of buying coils and wanted something more. Now BBB lives in the car in case something happens and I have to have it while mobile. I wouldn't vape it out of want. But that's me, others will be different, and that's a good thing or else we'd all be vaping the same gear.
For flavor and clouds rebuldable, I'd also suggest
asMODus Zesthia
And Kylin Mini is what I mostly vape, but as a first rebuildable, know that you will go through trial/error to get the wicking pretty much perfect or it will seep or give enemic/dry hit. Once you figure out how to wick it, the reward is awesome.

I second the GeekVape Ammit 25 mentioned up thread by @Pegleg Meg. It's simple to build on, never leaks, has great performance, and is very well made.

I'll add my two cents on factory coils vs. DIY coils. I used factory coils for three years before switching exclusively to RDAs/RTAs, and there is no comparison in terms of cost, performance (flavor, vapor production), and options. With pre-made coils you have a couple options at best as far as resistance and material, which means your vaping style and coil performance is dictated by someone else. Not a huge deal if vaping is just a utility to you, but if you really love vaping, you are unlimited when you go the DIY route, liquids included.

Bottom line to me is: I get better flavor, better performance, and more choices going the DIY route. As far as cost, there's just no argument—DIY is pennies on the dollar vs factory coils. What used to cost my wife and me ~$25/month is now less than ~$25/year, and that's with experimenting with different builds, wire gauges, etc. If you were to just build standard, single wire coils, it would cost you $10 for a year's worth of materials (wire and cotton).

Coils last decent, Airflow is spectacular, it's a smooth inhale, great flavor, huge clouds. I'm wanting to trade it for a mesh rda lol

How long do your coils last? What kinda liquid do you use?

Just bought enough wire and cotton to last me a few of years at least.
Spent around $150.
Much cheaper than factory

I haven't got to run through a coil yet as I have only had it for about a week. But the previous owner said they last like 2-3 months. And it has some root beer flavor in it at the moment. (tastes like root beer float)
