I planted a "seed"

Last night, I decided to make a snack run to 7-11, as I was leaving, I saw the next door neighbor smoking a analogue, hacking and wheezing her greeting to me. Her lungs rattled loud as she coughed. I had told her I quit smoking about a week ago, and, of course, said I was vaping, but I think it was lost on her. So, back to last night, I demonstrated my ego twist and showed the cloud it made. She kind of cackled and wheezed some more. I got inspired and when I got to 7-11 (I buy the enloy e-juice there), I bought her a njoy starter kit and some "Classic Tobacco" e-juice. I gave it to her when I got back, she thanked me. Do you think I went over the top???
Cheers,

I'm not to big on the "hero" thing, I just don't want to do CPR on someone in my apartment complex. :>/

Nice gesture! If she is nosy enough, she'll give it a try, since she didn't have to invest in anything. Hopefully, she realizes that this is a good way to quit smoking.

The only time I ever (almost) bought somebody a vaping thing was when my wife's friend showed us how many wasted Green Smoke carts she had. Two quart jars full... and she was filling a third. I volunteered to buy her a new setup, but she didn't want to switch.

Refilling the carts? Nope. At some point, Green Smoke embraced planned obsolescense.

Good for you man. I hope she converts. I have a long time customer that used to smoke 5 PAD. He saw me vaping one day. I told him all about it. It's been 2 years for him being smoke free. :)
Holy hell! How was this guy breathing? I hit 4 packs on occasions, but damn I paid dearly on those days.

And great for him, and he's lucky to have met you.

I still cough, a productive cough. But my wheezing is a thing of the past. And I'm thinking some of my current cough (wet cough) is MaxVG related. So I'm going to try a trial run at 50/50.

Do you think I went over the top???

I neglected this on my last post, so I'll try to redeem myself...
Maybe you're asking because you think buying her something like that might come across as pushy or bordering on vape-related proselytizing. Hey, she was coughing up a lung. That was a really nice gesture.

When I quit analogs, I was reading posts from non-smokers who explained that it would take a couple weeks, at least, to feel normal again. A couple of them described coughing up a bunch of vile stuff as it worked out of their lungs. I'm so glad I didn't have to go through that.

Thank y'all for your comments and support. In my field of work, we basically separate the disease from the patient (with a very sharp knife). This (vaping), in mho, is a way to avoid those interventions. If I'm right (IF being the operative word), we have it in our power to relieve much suffering, everywhere, period. The science, so far, is on the plus side of this opinion of mine. I really hope that petty differences and arguments don't get in the way of what really counts, the easing of suffering through harm reduction. I will continue to plant "seeds", because I think it helps.
Cheers,

You did a great and noble thing. Helping someone kick the smokes, or providing them with the hardware and juice to do so is what I love about our community. I've converted a few hardcore smokers in my family, helped one of my neighbors kick the stinkies and vape, and pif'd more than I can remember to homeless Vets in my area. I would watch as people from the homeless shelter would gather near a small park near where I work, waiting for one of the train commuters to put a half smoked cig out in the public ashtrays, they would scramble over to get it, sometimes fights broke out over a half smoked cigarette. That's when I knew I had to do something.

That's definitely the right move. Whenever I get accused of "planting a seed" in the neighbor it goes a completely different way.

What you did was very honorable... The world needs more neighbors like you :)
