I think I broke my box!

So I recently bought a Subox Mini from KangerTech and I didn't realize it did not come with the rechargeable 18650 battery it needs. I ordered one online but when I was waiting for it I found out you can salvage 18650's from old laptop batteries, which was conviniente because I had a battery from an old Mac. I cracked it open and 9 18650's but when I tried putting one in my box it just shut down and would no longer turn on when I put the power cord in. Before I had a battery the box would turn on when I plugged it in but turn off when I unplugged it. Now it wont even do that, even when I take the 18650 from the mac battery out. PLEASE HELP.

That stinks. The only thing I can think of that might help is to
1) make sure of the battery orientation. Can you see which end of the battery is positive and which end is negative? Did you clean up the ends of the battery so no solder or wires ? Is the battery wrap in good shape? If yes to all of the above put battery in, leave battery cover off for now and plug in the USB charger to the KBOX MINI (test it first to make sure there is power is to the micro usb)
Next push the fire button 5x to turn it on. Good luck!

The battery wrap has some peeling from me getting it out. There are some very small scraps of soldered metal on each end of the battery. Idk if you have any other advice it would help. Thank you a lot though.

Short of putting a charged battery in and rapidly clicking the fire button 5 times very rapidly I am at a loss for ideas...did I mention try turning the unit on by clicking 5 times very rapidly? You may have a wonky fire button so press firmly when clicking.
How long have you had the unit? Did you buy from a reputable business? How long till you get the new battery?
Sorry for all the questions but time may be of the essence if you have had the mod a very short time you may be able to get an exchange.
Good luck !
