If I'm shopping for a DNA200 mod, why shouldn't I go with the Wismec Reuleaux?

I'll admit, I'm a little late in the game re DNA200 mods. I've done a bunch of reading today, and will do more, but I'm curious to poll the community.

18650 batteries are what I'm familiar with. They're what I like. I'm prejudiced against mods that have non-removable batteries (I've seen a few DNA200 mods with removable lipo packs, but still). I like the idea of having two sets of 18650s that I can swap between. That seems to be a big plus for the Reuleaux.

Additionally, in terms of battery life, my understanding is that the mAh rating works a little differently for the lipos in these DNA200 mods, but would any of them be comparable to running 3 18650s in the Reuleaux?

In terms of build quality and reliability, I've read that there are some issues with the non-DNA200 RX200, but those don't seem to carry over to the Reuleaux DNA200. Though am I missing anything?

Really, I'm just curious to see if there's anyone who feels strongly enough to bother typing up a reply that there's some reason I should go with something other than the Reuleaux, if I'm set on upgrading to a DNA200 mod.

The Releaux is around $39 if you look in the deals section. It does hit a true 200 watts and has excellent temp control. I have both the DNA200 (3 mods) and a Releaux. The Releaux is my daily driver with a Aromamizer supreme tank. I'm not overly concerned if I ding it or scratch it because it's a good mod with 200 watts under $40.

The 18650's will last longer at higher watts than the 900mah LiPO pack in most of the DNA200's. I have a DNA200 with a 1300mah LiPO that is close to the 18650's in total duration of use, but still, the 18650's, especially 2500Mah up is a key selling point.

Sorry for the confusion (after all the browsing I've done today, I've found the close names of the Reuleaux DNA200 and RX200 to be quite annoying).

I meant to ask, why should I buy a different DNA200 mod over the Reuleaux DNA200? Beyond just cosmetic preferences etc. :)

Well, the DNA200 Releaux is decent, but there is a possible issue with long 510 connection atomizers. I'm ok with that risk. The Releaux DNA200 is a great mod, I know cause I have 1 (1 of the 3 I own). I'll recommend it . Mine works flawlessly. Use real Sony VTC5's in it for reliability.

How is that confusing?

The RX 200 is the cheaper version with multiple colors

The RELEAUX is the DNA200 one COLORWAY.. You can't miss it..

We don't call it RELEAUX rx200 its called RX200

The DNA is the one considered RELEAUX.

They're both Reuleaux's. One is the Reuleaux DNA the other is the Reuleaux RX200 which is not a DNA. For the record I have both and I like the DNA version better. I'm not saying the RX is not a very capable mod because it is. I just think the DNA vapes smoother and more consistent especially in TC, which is the whole reason to even own a DNA.

Sorry ej... no.

"Reuleaux" is the name attached to the JayBo/Wismec collaboration enclosure.
Named for the 19th C mathematician who first described the shape.

In fact... while not using the "Reuleaux" moniker, there are now other maker's mods using the enclosure style... including another DNA, and a YiHi model from Kangside.

They're all "Reuleauxs", or Reuleaux "style" now.

eta: Damn... how the fuck do you pluralize "Reuleaux"?

:p

$50 (pre-order) for the new model?
That'll fall quickly. May drive the original down a tad as well.

Possible issue as in they might not sit flush? Or something more nefarious?

And, I would be planning to use the LG HE2s I bought from a recent sale. Should be fine, no?

The batts are fine. They are 20 amp continuous, 35 Amp Pulse rated. The issue some of the Releaux's have was either a wobbly 510 when you screwed the atty down, or with the RX200, a problem where the 510 positive connector would get mashed down too far from long 510 connectors. Those issues have been mostly resolved with the new releases.

I've got both, the DNA200 and RX200. The DNA200 is my favorite out of the 2. The ergonomics, build quality and battery life you just can't go wrong.

So the DNA200 version isn't simply a DNA200 chip in the RX200 body?

Or were you just speaking generally about the Reuleaux box?

Really the other way around, the DNA version though is a bit better quality IMO. Might just be placebo but it just seems to be.

The body is the same, the board in it is different.

But they both share the same crap 510 connector... I have the same one on my TC100W and have tanks that wont sit flush. Drives me nutz:headbang:

I got the DNA and the Rx both on pre order. Use them both daily with no issues whatsoever with both 510's.

Put a Sapor or Twisted messes 2 on it and they will not sit flush.... Sapor is the worst of the two tanks.

You don't happen to have a Boreas, do you? Just wonder if that tank will sit flush, as that is currently the front runner for the new tank I'll pick up along with it. Every tank on the market sitting flush isn't a huge deal to me, as long as the wobbliness some had has been fixed.

And btw thanks everyone for your input! Much appreciated!

My wife and I run RX200s with Boreas tanks and no issues.

When an atty doesn't screw in far enough to be flush, the atty doesn't have the proper lateral support. 510's are already too small for modern atomizers in my opinion and when not properly supported they get stressed even more. May not be a problem for most, but it's still a design flaw. Mod makers have neglected the thing that provides the physical and electrical connection between the mod and atty for too long. Stainless threads and sprung pins seem to be the standard finally and are a huge improvement over brass threads and fixed pins, but they're still not completely there yet. Until they unfuck themselves, I have and will continue to refuse to buy any box that can't be retro fitted with a fdv 510. Carlos figured it out long ago. Not sure what everyone else's problem is.
