Nothing can. But if you leave the base on the device while threading the tank section on to the base, it could be over tightening the base onto the device and causing a short. Some device have cheesy little insulators in the 510 that when over compressed no longer perform their designed function. The iJust 2 also has a rubber seal at the base of the chimney to seal against the top of the coil. The tank is notorious for loosening the coil from the base when it is removed. But that doesn't match your description of the problem.Long story short -- Coil fires fine *with no tank* - Screw on the tank and nothing. Thought it was a bad base, so I grabbed another base. Same issue.
