Inawera Strawberry (and my journey to it)

So when I first started vaping, I ordered my juice from a Scottish company called Paradise Vape. I was blown away at the time by how delicious vaping can be... Like most here, I'm still constantly amazed at how great my own (but mostly others on here) diy juice can be! I've had a problem with one flavour though - strawberry.

I can't remember exactly how paradise vapes strawberry tasted. I remember thinking it was the perfect strawberry though. - almost my ultimate vape. Unfortunately, I've not found anything close so far in my diy experience.

I've noticed through my search for the perfect strawberry that most take one of two paths - 'The green strawberry' and the 'strawberry laces strawberry'.

FA Strawberry & TPA Strawberry (Ripe): these are both potentially fantastic strawberry's to me. Unfortunately, they are 'green strawberry's'. They seem to present more of the plant, the leaves on a strawberry. At the same time, the actually strawberry flavour (the actual substance of a strawberry) is very weak - almost a background note. I've found these particularly disappointing as they smell wonderful! If a vendor comes out with a strawberry that tastes exactly how FA Strawberry smells right out of the bottle then I'm sold. To me, that is the perfect strawberry! Both of these get utterly drowned in even the most simple mixes to me. I can taste the 'leaves' but none of the strawberry!

TPA Strawberry & Inawera Strawberry Kiss:

These are the opposite of the above to me. Strawberry laces! Not particularly nice strawberry laces either! These taste of chemicals - they are strong, stick to my wicks and overwhelm most mixes even at very small doses. When I ordered these I thought I was looking for a 'candy strawberry', thinking this would solve my difficulties with the 'green strawberry'. It didn't though! These are not nice to me.

Capella Sweet Strawberry:

This is a weird one to me. Mainly because everyone seems to love it! To me, this steeps in an orange note. I can't quite put my finger on it, but again it had a real chemical note, and doesn't taste anything like I expected it to. Again, this is a 'strawberry laces' vape to me, but again, it's not nice to me at all.

Each of these flavours all seem to fall too far either side of the scale for me. Which brings me to Inawera strawberry.

Inawera Strawberry:

Definitely not the perfect strawberry - but it's getting there! This has a candy note, a ripe note, a green note and most importantly, A STRAWBERRY NOTE! This is my most recent strawberry test and it seems to have a balance that the others don't have. I feel that with some more experimentation I could perhaps mould it to my liking.

Ultimately, I think it's a real shame. Strawberry is certainly a favourite to many. It's done well in many sweets, drinks, ice creams and milkshakes - but doesn't seem to translate to well to vapour! There a multiple post with people asking for a 'good strawberry'. Every company makes one. None make the perfect one!

Thoughts anyone? :)

Are you talking the Strawberry (E-Aromat) from INW regular line or the Shisha Strawberry?

I do like the regular SB from them but the Shisha Strawberry works better for me in mixes because it is strong enough to not get lost in a cream or other mixes like other SB's do. The Shisha is more of a SB with sweet glaze on it like you would find on top of a SB shortcake. I think they might even add a little bit of narcotics in it too because it is addictive ;)

I agree with you on INW SB Kiss, that is an odd flavor and whatever you do don't order INW Wild SB, that is like a double shot of SB Kiss, extremely potent and not good.

A lot of SB flavors mix well together, CAP is one of those as well as FA. I do like both but by themselves they are lacking like you say. I do use both of TFA's SB flavors in a couple of mixes, the TFA Strawberry is what I use in a simple recipe that most everyone who has tried it really likes. In that mix it is more like a strawberry milk type flavor, not natural SB but what we all remember drinking as a kid.

Your right though, there is no perfect strawberry, that's why it's good to own them all :D

Agree with SV and MV on mixing the various strawberries to try to get it to the point you want it.

I also agree with Mjag on the INW Shisha Strawberry. It is different than Strawberry (E-Aromat) and well worth having; if nothing else, it adds another component to compound with. :)

Had similar experiences to you, generally in diy online mixes I made in the past, the strawberry has been weak. The best one was a strawberries n cream by freshaspies on eliquid recipes, but the cap strawberries n cream gave it too much of a chemical taste to me. Like others I would highly recommend Shisha Strawberry AND mixing it with other strawberries. My best combination so far that Im happy with is 6/7% tfa ripe + 2/3% FA + 2/3% Shisha and adding one/some/all depenending on the recipe of 0.5% INW Pitaya (dragonfruit) - FA Raspberry – FA Forest Fruits – FA Lemon Sicily – INW Cactus and I think this makes a subtle but BIG difference as in different ways these all either help the strawberry pop, give a fuller taste or a more complex and/or sweet taste.

Thank you all for your responses!

I have done a lot of strawb combinations but have found myself still unsatisfied!

You've all convinced me to buy INW Shisha Strawberry. Should hopefully be here tomorrow! Will report back! :)

Shisha strawberry has been part of my ADV for about 15 months now. I've tried the TFA Strawberry Ripe and CAP sweet strawberry, and also mixed them, and they aren't anywhere close. The shisha strawberry is absolutely perfect. And if you find the usual "it's INW, you only need a little" a bit lacking, you can use a lot of shisha strawberry without the flavor going sideways -- my recipe uses 15.3% (it started at 16%, but I adjusted percentages downward to try and get control of the gunk factor -- it still gunks, but not quite as badly.).

Well, as always, the suggestions on this forum have turned out to be the best of the best.

Just thought I'd say thanks again. My INW Shisha Strawberry arrived this morning. I've mixed it standalone at 7% and, as a shake and vape, I can tell it is the strawberry I am looking for. I've got another reciped I'm working on so will keep that in my tank for most of the day and come back to the Shisha Strawberrry later to see what its like in a few hours. This one seems to have answered all my problems I raised with other strawberry's in my OP.

Im a happy vaper today :)

So glad to hear this! I ordered some INW Shisha Strawberry last night, and I cannot wait to try it!

I just started using the Inawera (e-aromat) Strawberry; not thrilled with it so far; went from 1 to 2% about to try steeping 5%. I find there's not much strawberry flavor as of yet; more of a sweet floral-y flavor which to me is not good at all. If I can't get it to work, I'll have to mix it with a NicVape strawberry to help it. If you have any advice from your own journey, would be much appreciated. I am new to DIY so, working out my kinks and the companies I'm buying from and brands buying. Good luck to you!!

It's great! Don't get me wrong though, it isn't the best flavour ever. But it's definitely the best strawberry to my taste. As I said in OP, it's a shame strawberry seems to be such a difficult one to find a satisfying vape. This one is certainly on the right track!

Would love to hear what you think of it once if arrives! :)

As I said in my OP, I find many strawberry's to have a floral taste. Those that don't seem to taste too much like artificial candy.

As many have said here, it may be worth trying INW Shisha Strawberry. Mine arrived today and it's delicious!

Unfortunately, I've not had too much success mixing different brands together - but many have said they have! I found myself buying several different strawberry flavours. INW strawb and INW Shisha Strawb have been the best I've come across so far!

I will definitely try the strawberry shisha; I've heard a lot of good about it. If you're also not liking the floral notes, but find the shisha to be good; it's certainly worth a try!! So far I am liking the quality of the INW flavors and that they have zero extra chemicals (that was the selling point for me.) I did read above; I just didn't know if you had tried higher percentages and/or mixing. Thanks!!

I meant mixing brands. Sorry for not being more specific.

Many of the other brands of Strawberry flavors can take 2 weeks or more to taste decent IMO.
But I've not had that problem with INW Shisha.

I think that might be because the shisha strawberry is an organic flavor -- which also means it gunks a lot, but if you want real strawberry flavor right away, it really is your best option. Opinions do vary, though -- though most really love the shisha strawberry, @Robert Cromwell says it tastes very artificial and chemically to him -- he's a super taster.

Since so many things we both eat, and vape, are made using artificial flavors, it's not surprising.
But it's also not likely to ever get the exact same taste of biting into a fresh Strawberry either.
All we can settle for is finding the brand, or flavors, that "rings our bell" the best.

Actually this shisha strawberry tastes to me exactly like the strawberries that my mom would cover in sugar and leave in the fridge overnight, to create the syrup... then mix in some cream, in the morning. That's the taste I tried to replicate with my strawberry & cream recipe, and it's damn close!
