The road to this point was long and sometimes meandering, but Injustice Year Four is now firmly focused on delivering the "superheroes vs. gods" battle royale that was promised. Issue #7 doesn't suffer from the random interludes and aside that hampered the previous issue, and offers more than enough carnage to satisfy fans of the game.
Hercules continues to be on the forefront of the conflict in this issue as he singlehandedly takes on Superman's team. I did find myself a little bothered by how much Wonder Woman is used as a punching bag here, both by Hercules and revenge-seeking members of Batman's team. However, the clash between Shazam and Hercules is very entertaining. After being used mainly for comedic relief in recent months, it's great to see Shazam cut loose and prove why six gods are better than one. Occasionally his fight banter comes across as stilted, though. But at least Harley Quinn crossing party lines and cheering him on makes up for that problem.
