IPV D3S (AKA What Bothers Me About P4Y)

It seems that P4Y is coming out with yet another incarnation of the IPVD2. First it was the D2, then the D3, now the D3S. I think they make good mods but instead of updating what they release, they just pump out mod after mod. I myself swore off buying any more P4Y products when they didn't update the IPV3 Li for SS in TC. Not only didn't they update it but they also refused to answer my questions about whether it was going to be updated and if not, why not. My guess is so they could sell more IPV5's. Rant over. Without further adieu the IPV D3S..

Here are the specs from I've been able to find:
10-80 watts in power mode
10-100J in TC
.Minimum 05 resistance in TC
Minimum .15 resistance in Power mode.

The biggest change seems to be it's using a Yihi SX150H chip that allows you to input a manual TCR and also use IPV Pure X2 tank. These are just the pre-order specs and are probably subject to change. Here's the link if anyone is interested.

Cheers,
Steve

Wow, just wow. They never cease to amaze me with the underhanded stunts. I love my IPV D2, so much so that I almost want one of these. However, it makes no sense as I'm sure the cost won't be that far off from the IPV5.

I like my IPV D2 also but instead of buying their new mods every time a chip upgrade is made-because they will not support full firmware updates, I'm taking my money over to the Wismec camp. I have the RX200 and the Presa 75W, both had the firmware upgrades without any hick-ups, I'll just pre-order the Presa 100W. It'll most definitely be cheaper ($35.99)

IPV2X was the last P4Y mod I got because I got sick of their crap. It was a great mod though, for what it was.

I gave up on their stuff, the upgrades are worthless imho and their cheap ass ''special' charge cable was just that-cheap. they didn't even have the decency to include the charger.

Despite all the shit I talked in the past (witness this thread)

I just bought the IPV3 Li, got the IPV5 a couple months ago, have owned the D2 for a while and I am trying to trade my VTC Mini for a D3.. Any takers?

The 3 Li is a workhorse. I still use mine to build on. I like the fact it reads to the thousandths of an ohm and pressing the + and - button displays the resistance. I normally build TC dual coil, I check after installing the first coil, then again after the second (if the resistance doesn't drop by half I know I have a problem). My only complaint is that P4Y never bothered to update it for SS TC. If they did, I'd still be using it now!

So far I'm really liking it. I'm not going to use it for TC, just a straight wattage box. I even like the silly sensor switch... I recently got a mutation X mini to use on my Mini Volt and found it sits nice and works great with my D2. So I figured I'd upgrade to the D3 as my D2 has seen better days... Quick question for you, Steve, is the IPV3 Li an unusually lightweight mod or is it just me?

It's light due to the LiPO.

I also have a 3LI and up until I got my VTC mini's it was my main day to day mod, and still would be if they had ever updated to support SS TC. I still use mine every day, but now using it in power mode since all I use is SS316L to build with.

The IPV3 li doesn't have a Lipo pack. It uses 2 18650's. Also no internal charging. USB is for the nonexistent upgrades. The mod is a true workhorse, I own 3 of them and see no reason to buy another mod, but wish it did TC on stainless.

IIRC it's made out of Billet Aluminum so compared to mods made out of Zinc Alloy or a three 18650 mod it is lighter. It's definitely lighter than my DNA200 Reuleaux.

P4Y is constantly being bad mouthed for no upgrades. I get that. But their devices are stellar. I own four and justv gave my oldest away - The IPV2S that I had for ages with the silly battery compartment with screws - it still works after numerous camping trips. I carbon fibered the whole thing and the guy I gave itn to just uses the USB to charge it. My D2. my D3, my IPV3 LI, and my IPV5 all hit great.

Are they really that shady? I'm really on the fence. I was going to pick up an IPV5 as I've been seeing them for under $40. Hard to pass up a Yihi chip at that price.

It's not that I would call them shady. I have the IPV3 Li (also an IPV2S) which I think are great mods. What pissed me off is they sold the 3 Li as being upgradeable and never upgraded it to SS TC. That wasn't really so bad because who knows maybe there is a reason it couldn't be done. What really irritated me was I sent a few messages to them asking if it was going to be upgraded and if not why not. I never received a response. At which point I bought a DNA200 and never looked back!

They aren't really shady, they just make cheap quality, mass produced mods. They don't do updates, they just make new versions. The quality of their build and components is hit or miss. If you get a good one, they are very good, but if you get a bad one, it's junk. My D2 is awesome, but my friends is just crap. My IPV5 is shoddily machined and has issues, but others are perfect ... It's really a roll of the dice when you buy a P4U product. If you want a better idea of my thoughts, the link in my signature will take you to my reviews, you can see what I'm talking about with my IPV5.

I have one and I think it's great. it hits great and the battery life is awesome. I vape between 90W-110w and a set of batteries will usually last all day. I'd definitely recommend it.

Just got my Ipv5 and all I can say is wow! I love my SX Mini but with my Crown tanks it always felt a bit underpowered. I always loved that chip. This thing is just a straight up beast and hits like a sledgehammer. So glad I bought this. I also picked up a VT133 which I'm really enjoying as well. Now I'm waiting on my Hohm Slice and after that I'm looking at a Sig 213, a Vaporflask DNA133, and possibly a Hohm Wrecker G2. That should get me thru Vapocalypse. Lol
