Hello my fellow vapers. I just bearly got my IPV3 in which I am enjoying it currently but I recently notice that mine does not have the same functions as the ones in youtube or google images. Yes it does adjust the settings, it does have the power, does looks the same but came to notice that it does not have a charging port and the charging port side screen does not light up as I seen. I have to manually remove the batteries, recharge them, screw the plate back on and vape. I contacted the seller in which my question is, are there two versions of this same model? One with a charging port and one without it? Thank you in advance.

This is a well known complaint about the IPV3 and a feature they upgraded in the 4 model. You can take it to your shop and ask them to swap the screws for magnets to make battery changing more convenient, however there will be a cost to you and it varies from shop to shop.

If you're feeling handy I just did a magnet upgrade to a friends IPV. 1/8" drill bit, 4 bucks worth of magnets and some super glue. Done in about 20 minutes

I have an older IPV3. It came with the charging port later determined to be unsafe Newer versions just had a plug inserted into it, I thought. Yours doesn't even have a plug?

Nope everything is solidly sealed. Is that why they had that one case of the faulty devise of the glue?

I remember an uproar caused by someone mistaking the glue for melted parts...It was nothing really. I've had no trouble with mine.

That is wack, why don't they lower the price instead of scamming ppl for 150? It is a hassle to screw and unscrew the back plate to charge the batteries.

I agree...but not everyone takes the time to do that. I have a former co-worker that is worse than most children about impulse buying...he went shopping without me, bought something shiney, then came to me to show him how to use it, and then when it wasn't what he wanted bitched about it, dropped it, then took it back to the vape shot saying the screen stopped working out of nowhere and exchanged it. What he did was totally wrong and immoral in my opinion and I don't condone his behavior whatsoever but the point is there will always be people that buy something without educating themselves before hand...I just hope most people have better morals than my former coworker...

That is wack, why don't they lower the price instead of scamming ppl for 150? It is a hassle to screw and unscrew the back plate to charge the batteries.

@efektt is completely right...there is too much information about every vape product ever made since the first cig-a-like in great detail available at your fingertips. The internet contains the sum of all human knowledge and it seems to be used the most to post funny pictures of cats and play Team Fortress 2 more than anything...

It's not a scam when they stopped it for safety reasons....and the 99 bucks for the device by itself is a competitive price, especially for a B&M.

You could have found this out by googling the IPV3 on your phone or in another TAB in your browser while you shopped and found out that IPV doesn't have the best track record when it comes to their built in charging ports and gone with a different mod such as the Segelei that comes with a magnetic back for easy battery changes...

And you'd know you need multiple pairs of new batteries that need to stay married together and charged and used the same because these mods operate in a "series" and not "parallel" battery configuration and that not keeping matched pairs of batteries can cause problems with the batteries or device and in worst case damage them.

Mine and efektt's point is for 175 I can get a Segelei 150, 4 Samsung 25R batteries, an Efest LUC 2 charger, a Kanger Subtank Mini, and a 5 pack of OCC heads. And it took me all of 2 minutes to find everything since I knew where to look. A little knowledge goes a long way...we're here to help and this place isn't hard to find.

We're here to help and @Barkt gave you a four dollar fix to be screw free with the device you have...if shopping isn't your "cup o' tea" then maybe that is the best solution for all. PITA that swapping batteries is aside I hope you enjoy your new mod and that you take care of your batteries in the way I mentioned above to give them a long and safe service life

And in all honesty...if taking off the backplate is all you have to bitch about with your vape then it's a first world problem you won't get much sympathy for...especially when we've got chipsets failing and wires melting and tank coils shorting on people....and especially from the crowd that once apon a time spent hours cutting and shoving blue aquarium foam and Lipton tea bags into cartomizers trying to get them to hold and vape a few extra puffs that actually tasted like the liquid they had was supposed to or carrying a dozen penstyle or stick batteries just to try and make it threw the day sucking the life out of them to keep from smoking....The vape world is so Cadilac these days that new vapors don't know how good they've got it...sure having to remove those screws is a pain in the ass...but it still is heaps better than some of the so called "devices" we had to work with not that long ago

Have you tried taking one screw out and just loosing the other and spinning the battery cover. That is what I used to do with my ipv2.

The og ipv3 came with a charging port, then it was deemed not a safe feature and the next version plugged the charging port, later versions the port is gone entirely. You can sort of gauge the age of the mod by the charging port.

@madmonkey you are right about what is available to new Vapers today. I started vaping 14 months ago and the difference in equipment is unbelievable. I wish there had been some of the newer stuff we have now available then. But the good part is I learned a lot more by having to fix and make things work. I just had to fiddle around today to get a Maganus to work right. A year ago I would have said it is junk and returned it. But having had to make other things work I was able to troubleshoot the problem and got it working right.

This. I have a Black Carbon Fiber, and it has the port hole plugged with a silver plug. Doesn't look bad at all, IMO. I knew about the charging before I got it in December. The screws are kinda annoying, but not really a biggie. With two batts you should get good life, and not have a need to swap or charge when out. Regarding charging, I wouldn't use the iPV even if it could. Why stress it? I have a perfectly safe, and good charger for that. Magnets would be nice, but you can mod it, for me I deal with it, I'm very happy with it, too. It's a great mod, enjoy it.
