The latest chapter of Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows hints that Doctor Doom may have a new challenger to his reign as God King of Battleworld. This issue revealed that Regent, the main villain of Renew Your Vows and one of the dozens of Battleworld's barons, is gathering power in hopes of defeating Doom in battle.
Regent has only appeared sporadically in the book to date, with readers learning that he was once a successful businessman named Augustus Roman before he began his crusade to capture every superhuman in his domain and harvest their powers for himself. Regent collected the final piece in his puzzle in this issue when he acquired Spider-Man. The villain revealed that Peter's abilities are key to battling Doom, as his Spider-sense will give Regent enough of an edge to confront the all-powerful ruler of Battleworld. Could it be that Peter Parker will be responsible for the end of Doom's reign and the restoration of the Marvel Universe?
