Is the Nautilus X great or crummy?

Hey guys, I wanted to start a discussion on the new Nautilus X from Aspire, specifically the atomizer. I recently bought the Quad-Flex Survival Kit to replace my broken Nautilus 5ml and was excited to see all the things this kit can do. I started off with the MTL version of the X and it wasn't bad at first, it delivered a decent throat hit once the atomizer wicked although not much flavor. It didn't seem like a true upgrade but it wasn't as bad as a downgrade either. I then switched to the RDTA later in the day and was pleasantly surprised by it's great performance. The flavor with the RDTA is rich and the clouds are dense. After enjoying the RDTA for a day or two, I went back to the MTL adaptation of the X only to find that I couldn't get a throat hit, it wouldn't produce a cloud and it spit my juice at me. I have yet to try the RDA or Squonker because the RDTA just fits my vaping style so well.

So, my question or talking point here: Is the Nautilus X worth using or is it junk?

For anyone wondering about my specs to assess my criticism, I'm using a 40 watt Aspire CF Mod and the Quad-Flex dual-coil deck at 0.5 ohms in the RDTA. My Nautilus X MTL coil is rated at 1.8 ohms and my battery is an 18650 LG HB2 3000 mAh 35A continuous discharge.

You will probably need a stronger mod. You need more wattage, methinks. Coolfire IV plus or better.

If the RDTA configuration is working well for you, and the Nauti X config isn't as good, well, just stay with the RDTA setup. I'm not sure it's a question of worth using or not, but what you like or dislike. Some folks like the Nauti X with the 1.8 coil. Not everyone does. Those two configurations are in a very real sense like comparing apples to oranges.

For that kit your going to need a new mod. Preferably one that has dual 18650 and at least 100+ watts to have fun with it. The nautilus x is fine on your old mod should work. Read the specs on your coils and try it on the high end of them. (Have not used that one before.) The RDTA is the best part of that kit. Your gonna need more than 40w to enjoy a good vape of of that one.

I've been enjoying the RDTA on 40 watts, it works just fine, which is why I thought the Naut X MTL not doing anything for me was weird. The coil is 1.8ohm and the RDTA is sub-ohm, so maybe I'll have to try the suggestions and use a more powerful mod.

Remember, a more powerful mod isn't going to help your 1.8 Nauti X coil. Only give you some more headroom for the subohm RDTA configuration.

If that's the case, do you think I should get a lower resistance coil?

The Nauti X only comes in 1.5 or 1.8 ohm coils (I'm almost positive). The 1.5 was the original and folks really weren't happy with it and then the newer 1.8 came out which is reportedly better. So outside of using the 1.8 coil which you already are, not sure how else to improve that plain RTA functionality for you. Maybe keep playing with the airflow and seeing if that helps?
