This is my first attempt of rebuilding (more like wicking only). I'm using the coils came with OBS crius, the ohms reading at 0.31.
The pic was after around 10 hits, then one coil started to turn black. Is this normal ??

So only one coil is heating up, correct? It's kind of hard to see the build

No, both coils heat up evenly when I tried it at first. Sorry for the pic, this is as good as i can get it to focus on my phone :(

It does look as if one coil is heating faster/hotter than the other. Pull the wicks and check them again.

Where you have the coils joined together on the post make sure there's a good connection. Before you put the cotton/ wicks back, just hit the fire button and make sure they are getting hot together.

Both coils heat up evenly before i wicked it, but it does not after I pulled out the wick though after I dry burn and dip it in water a couple of times it heats up evenly again.

Did you heat up the coils until they were red hot a few times. That allows the coils to break in, like stretch, what are you using, silica or cotton?

Yes I did, and I'm using cotton.

Ate you using freshly charged batteries? I know some of these questions are real basic and you have probably gone thru this process already but I'm just making sure....so after all this ate you have the same problem?

Are you using shitty juice sometimes when you have shitty juice they have other additives in it and it will turn black like that but it would usually happen to both coils... take your cotton out make sure your screws are tight fire it and make sure they both heat up from the middle of the coils at the exact same same time if they don't brush the coils with your tweezer or screw driver that should fix it but usaully spaced coils don't get hot spots. Make sure when you wick it your not over stuffing your coils there should be some resistance when pulling the cotton threw but not so much that your actually moving the coil. If your coils are firing proper and you don't over stuff your wicks and it still does it then it's probably your juice. Also look at your ohm's and make sure they aren't bouncing around they should stay the same. If they are bouncing it means either your screws aren't tight or your coil is touching the inside of your chimney. If it's touching the inside of your chimney then try unscrew your post screws and try to put the coil closer to your posts since your coils came with the rta then they should fit... Hope this helps

Quit wasting your time and get rid of those chinese coils. Completely disassemble, clean and inspect your atty. Assemble, build and wick. Go from there. Good luck.
^^^ This.
Coils that come with rbas need to be immediately thrown in the trash.

Makes a lot of sense China uses really shitty metal that's why Chinese knives are usually garbage and don't hold an edge unless they are using metal specifications from other countries like I know buck knives sold some of the rights to Chinese manufactures like I I think 1/3 of their knives are made in China and says it on the blade but supposedly they are just as good as the American made ones because they have to use there metal specifications. Now I bet these small Chinese vape companies aren't using the best kanthol lol I never thought about it I've also never used the premade coils I got with an atomizer

Im a TC fan, & after a learning curve have no problems in my rbas. Seems a lot are having TC issues with replaceable heads. Wasnt aware of the metal specs in knives from China ..... but now makes sense with these replaceable heads too.

The positive current path in remove able head attys usually sucks compared to a proper rebuildable also.

I didn't have any issue with the prebuilt coils in either of my Crius - just make sure you tighten the leads properly and that they're not touching anything!

I checked everything all you guys mentioned and still burn the coils so I decided to get a pre-built coil to see if it's the coil quality issue as @BoomStick said.

Now I could only find
1. UD 24ga 2.8mm 0.5ohm
2. UD 26ga 2.5mm 0.5ohm
3. Wotofo Helix Clapton 26+30ga 0.6ohm

Which one should I get? I'm thinking either one of the UD to start off but will it be safe running at only 0.25ohm.
PS. I'm running a Snow Wolf 75w, Sony VTC4, OBS Crius

Yea you'll be safe. I don't know anything about the quality of the ud pre made coils but your well within the safety of the batteries you are using about 16 amps depending on your voltage also your on a regulated mod so your good.

also I'd consider buying claptons or fused claptons instead they give better flavor and considering your buying pre made they are easy to install only complicated to actually make the coil but your skipping that step. I'm not sure what size you can fit in the crius since I don't own one but I'm sure someone else here could help with that I'd assume you could fit atleast 2.5mm fused claptons probably bigger

Coil resistance has nothing to do with battery current when using a variable wattage mod.

Clapton's usually perform better than regular round wire. I'd try those.

Rip the build out and try again. Make sure both coils are heating from the inside out, and are doing so at the same rate and at the same time.

Then wick and go.

Yea I know I was saying his batteries would be safe with that coil as long as it wasn't ridiculous voltage. On a regular single 18650 mech mod he would be drawing around 16 amps. I guess i should have explained better thats what I was getting at and then I said he's using a regulated mod so he's good anyway.
