Heavy with rattly buttons, generally cheaply made but the door magnets are great. You get what you pay for, and for $30 I'm happy with mine.

And for 70-80w.....hmmm? Its higher rated but id say look at the tesla 2. Its 100w unreg. But that all depends on the build.

At least eleaf/joyetech added the replaceable battery feature to the 100. I'd still be careful using the on-board charger though. Eleaf/Joyetech assembles these with the cheapest components available. (hence the price)

Here's another iStick50 explosion posted today, and a small sample of the past problems

Congrats! I hope it serves you well. If you haven't decided on a tank for it yet, the Uwell Crown seems to be the primary favorite in the Subtank Wars thread, with the SMOK TFv4 close in pursuit.

They are but after spending some time with the Crown I still like my Tobeco Super Tank better. Also, I'm seeing a lot of used TFv4s for sale/trade on a local FB page.

I came here to chime in on the iStick 100 though (for posterity, I see the OP pulled the trigger already). Just ordered my 2nd one to go on a 2nd Super Tank. It's the first eleaf device I've ever bought and for the money, I'm happy. My other regulated mods are all P4Y (IPV3, IPV Mini2, IPV D2).

The Good
Price, duh
Comfy in the hand (for a dual 18650 reg mod)
Simple controls with just enough extra features (screen flip, VV or VW, 2 decimal places on resistance)
Easy to read screen
Killer battery door
Parallel Battery Wiring
I kind of like the timer when firing
I think it's lightweight (but only compared to an IPV3) - so much nicer in the hand

The Bad
Dat button rattle - this is really the only thing I don't like. The buttons do not feel good. For the price though, I'll deal with it.
Crappy internal charger
"high" lower resistance threshold of 0.15 - doesn't bother me at all. That's why I get a high wattage mod in the first place, so I don't have to build crazy low to get a hot, intense vape.

Anyways, yeah, for a super cheap mod it's a win. I would have gladly paid an extra $10 for some better buttons but whateva.

If ya dont like the button rattle, i found kind of a fix for that! I was at my local b&m and the owner uses the i100 too he showed me his and mentioned the rattle. He put a gel sleeve on it and it keeps the buttons from rattling and also helps keep gunk out from behind them to lower the risk of button stick. I hate how those things feel in my hand but silence is bliss!

That's a good idea. I don't really like the silicone sleeves either but I might give one a try.

I love my istick 100. I have 6 boxes and love them all but this one goes to work with me. I also try out all my RDA builds on it first, don't know why. I guess it's because it was the first regulated box I bought. I have taken this box apart completely and it seems pretty neat and tight inside and for the price I really am surprised at the quality in the case. Best 40 bucks I've spent on a box mod.

What's wrong with the internal charger? I've not had any problems. It'd be better if mounted on the front, or somewhere other than the bottom.

If this were a mech mod, I'd say to be cautious with those efest batteries. I wouldn't trust them to build down to .3 ohms normally, but since this is a regulated mod, it might be okay. Make sure you keep an eye open and don't over power them. If they show any sign of weakening stop using them, the last thing you want is for them to vent.

I wouldn't do it. Flat tops are tight in this mod and 20A is probably a pulse rating, who knows what continuous is. Could be 10A which isn't enough.

I just read a lot of bad things about eleafs charging boards in general. Thought I had read something about this one in particular but I can't remember where.

Internal charging of the external batteries and passthrough usability is pretty much standard on most of the new regulated mods. That being said I'm sure it's safe, but I'd rather not put extra stress on the board or take any chances. I also wouldn't vape while charging with the passthrough either.

That's my opinion. I'm sure it works fine, but I'd rather use a standalone charger and replace my batteries with cool and rested batteries than charge in the device and go straight from the plug to the mouth.

I was using the efest batteries (flat top) but it seems as though the wrapping around the battery is thicker than my Sony's, and the wrapping tore off the tops of them from installing them. They sparked one time while I was putting them in. Sucks. I don't think I'll be getting efests any more. I like the Sony VCT 3's and 4's better, anyway.

I've noticed that with SOME batteries there is a wrap directly around the battery and there is another wrap on top of the first wrap.

My LG HE4s have that "double wrap" and I can see on the positive side where there are indentations in the outer wrap from taking it in and out of my box.

I don't know about efests, but I do know that I've been told that they are iffy at best.

I'm not liking what I'm finding out about efests... I've not experienced venting much less an explosion, but I would think if a battery is at a critical state it will become hot, correct? I would feel my mod getting warm, if not hot, perhaps? I've not ever had either of my mods become so much as warm except from my own body temp...

I just pulled one of my efests out to re-read the specs and when I put it back in, it shorted due to the exposed top. It started hissing/venting and got hot real quick. I just put it outside.

Just goes to show you, as the old saying goes "when in doubt throw it out".

Or in this case recycle it.

I'll admit, when I was ignorant to ohms law..... I built an .09 out of quad twisted coils and ran it on an unregulated box mod for weeks. I chain VAPE so my box got hot as hell. I just kept doing it anyway. I was using Samsung 25r in parallel. I never had venting much less an "explosion". Not to say it won't happen.....simply stating good batteries make a difference. I'm sure if I had some " eBay specials" in there,it probably would've blown my RDA down my throat or through my brain. Safe batteries vent, and it takes a hell of a lot to make that happen. Bad batteries explode, however I've yet to see any viable truth to a "protected battery" exploding. ... Still. Better safe than sorry.

You're right...mine are double wrapped. wth And it's like you said you're experiencing, I'm tearing my batteries up taking them in and out. The iStick 100 and my Sigelei 150 TC are tight.

I had to tear the clear battery protector off the inside of the battery cover on my ipv3 Li because it was taking chunks of cover off my batteries. I must say though.... My cover is like butter getting on and off now and my spring loaded ball lock actually clicks when the cover slides into place. It never really "latched" before. I have torn up a few sets if batts in my I stick though, still do. It's not a deal breaker though. I love that box.

I use my external charger for my other mods but I always plug my iStick 100 W in directly overnight. It's turned off and laying on its side with the rda removed. The Samsung 25Rs never leave it. I just find it much less fiddly.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

A couple of days ago my iStick 100 started ticking when I fired it. I'm guessing it's an inductor (I know they can ring) and I also suspect it has to do with lower resistance coils. It does not tick with a .8 ohm load but is ticking with .25 and .3... So, if I'm going to continue to use it I'm going to have to build higher resistance coils.

I'm going to look into it more, but I suspect it's taxing the circuitry. Have you tried a higher resistance coil?

Some of them maybe? The one i baught hasnt done that yet. I have been running my builds at .19 for a while now... i have noticed the battery read out isnt accurate when the batteries are half charge or lower. The icon will read half then read empty, a min. Later read half? Any thoughts on that one. ..
