Is the "vaping subculture" really "largely male"? I'm having a hard time seeing that, though the other points are absolutely correct -- about success being more likely for those who are a) highly motivated, and b) able to afford to keep progressing as the limitations of 1st- and 2nd-gen devices become apparent. But one point escapes me -- I don't see how it's so hard to afford, given the price of cigarettes which one is presumably no longer smoking -- that benefit became apparent to me by the time I bought my 3rd device, since I had given up the smokes right at the juncture of my 1st and 2nd devices.

I think the point about "highly motivated" is really so obvious it's kind of a "duh, no shit sherlock" -- not sure anyone who's smoked for decades can give it up without that high degree of motivation.
