Jack Black has all but officially confirmed that he is playing Steve in the upcoming Minecraft movie, with a new video teasing the role.

The beloved actor posted a video on Instagram that opens with him singing a joyful rendition of the Double Rainbow song while filming a colorful arch in the sky. He then walks up to a trailer that belongs to "Steve" from the Minecraft movie and gives a tour of the interior, showing off images of the franchise's blocky lead character.

The video follows a report in January that suggested Black would be taking on the iconic video game role, portraying Steve in the Minecraft movie. He joins several other cast members who are also said to be in the mix, including Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Jason Momoa, and Jennifer Coolidge.

Brooks' role in the movie is unconfirmed, but she recently teased a potential collaboration between her and Black for its theme song, saying, "You can't do a movie with Danielle Brooks and Jack Black and not have us do something. I'm having a good time." She admitted, however, that she will not be the lead voice behind it.

Black, of course, is no stranger to video game adaptations, having voiced Bowser in 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, for which he earned a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for his ode to Princess Peach, while he is also taking on the role of Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands movie, which will arrive in theaters this August.

People will have to wait a little longer to see Black's prospective outing as Steve since the Minecraft movie has a release date of April 4, 2025.
