So I just bought some squares of Japanese cotton off amazon by a brand name called master of clouds. I have never used anything but prebuilt coil heads and I just tried to use this cotton to rewick my cubis rba. I followed a step by step video and did everything right. Washed hands thoroughly before handling cotton. So I go to use it and it has a really bad taste almost like sour milk earthy taste I saturated the cotton first and everything. Is this normal I never have experienced this taste.

I have the same cotton I honestly don't like it very much at all.
Usually it does have a shitty taste at first but it should go away.
I also have cotton bacon made by Wick N Vape personally the cotton bacon is way better.

It's the top and bottom layer (both outsides). I bought a 120 count pack of Puff about a year or so ago (might have been 2) from Amazon that was one of Vapor Joes Deals. It was really inexpensive (iirc it was $5-6). It shipped directly from Japan. I think it's very good. I've never had anyone say anything bad about it (I've given some to a few friends). YMMV

Cheers,
Steve

I've never actually tried the brand you are using. That being said I've read a lot of people get (for lack of a better term) a cotton taste when first changing wicks. It usually seems to go away pretty quickly (I'm assuming it's because the cotton is becoming thoroughly saturated). Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Cheers,
Steve

I swear I always taste cotton. I went to rayon a long time ago, though some say they taste the rayon. We are all different.

I have a bag of cotton from Master of Clouds. It seems fine, but I totally prefer rayon. It just works better for me.

Koh gen Doh, I always come back to it. I'm always trying new wicking material really like Native Wick Platinum, it's my favorite of the premium cotton but like I said I always come back to Koh gen Doh. It's around $10 on Amazon for 80 large pads. Very easy to work with, Scottish Roll is simple with it and it wicks so very well. No nasty taste either.

I probably don't have as much experience as some of these other people. I use some muji brand japanese organic cotton pads I got off amazon, $7 for 180 sheets (50mm x 60mm). Tastes fine, I don't notice any weird flavor compared to silica wicks. Maybe both taste like crap compared to other things, those are the only two wicks I've used. On my pen vape the coils come with 2.5mm silica wicks preinstalled. I've rewicked both with silica and the cotton, the cotton makes it easier because the coils are so damn tiny. Both outer layers peeled off and rolled in my fingers. Tastes pretty decent to me though, ymmv.

Mujj is good, I used it before Koh gen Doh.

All cotton has had some break in time that I've tried, though I've not tried the more expensive stuff (can't get myself to when it's just a few puffs to break it in). I have the Master of Clouds stuff and use it on my smaller coils where my bigger KGD pads leave a lot of waste wicking. Maybe half a mL of juice and the taste is gone for me. To me the coils always have a longer impact on flavor, even cleaned higher quality wire coils I've ordered from people I still get that metallic taste until they're broken in which is longer than my cotton.
