Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is heading to Disney+ next year, and its lead voice actors John Mulaney and Andy Samberg have confirmed the movie is a "comeback," not a reboot.

As part of Disney+ Day, fans were given a sneak peek of new titles that are launching on the streaming platform in the future, including Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, which will premiere in Spring 2022. Mulaney and Samberg appeared in a video to tease their respective roles as Chip and Dale in the hybrid live-action-animated feature, directed by Akiva Schaffer.

"Now, I know what you're thinking, 'Another reboot, no!'" Samberg joked in the short clip. "But our film isn't a reboot, it's a comeback." He turned to Disney's marketing department to back-up his statement by sharing a look at a new teaser poster for the movie that shows a coffee-stained Rescue Rangers script with the word "reboot" crossed out. Check it out below:

The original animated Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers series ran for three seasons on the Disney Channel during the late 1980s and early 1990s, with the final episode airing on November 19, 1990. The show centered around the titular chipmunks and a team of pint-sized crime-fighters who monitored both the human and animal communities to keep them safe.

The movie reboot was first announced at Disney's Investor Day last year, where several updates about the streaming platform's movies and shows were shared. Many of those titles have re-emerged during this year's Disney+ Day, with the company releasing a brand new trailer for its Big Hero 6 series Baymax! as well as a first look at Hocus Pocus 2.
