Ohhhhhkay buddies, need a little advice.
I'll try to condense this a little.
-Quit smoking/started vaping October 1.
-Used a kanger emow. Had nothing but problems with battery, coils, tank and anything that
came near it.
-Dec 4 got the evic mini with tron tank. First impression; not bad/big improvement over the emow.
-Didn't like the tester .2 Ni coil, .4 TI Ok, 1. ka Ok.
-Burnt out all three tester coils in 1-2 days each. (probably my doing)
-Got new CL 1. coils, work pretty good all day. After vaping all day with no issue
the coil floods A LOT, it just happens out of nowhere, 1 min its fine the next soogy coil.
That happened three evenings in a row.... any idea? :S
-So I get a pack of .5 Ti coils thinking maybe they'll be better. I feel like a vacuum
cleaner when using the TC. All day vaping and I only go through 1/8th of a tank of
juice. So TC saves juice which is nice but after a day or so vaping the .5 Ti I started dropping in
juice through the top of the tank so I could get some actual vapor. Only after doing this
for a while did I realize this is something close to "dripping", or maybe not. I don't know lol.
-Dec 12 had my first smoke in just over 2 months. It tasted like hell and now I have a headache.
I'm tired of trying to make my vape gear work. Im tired of the flooding, the burning coils, too high
temp, too much watts, not enough voltage, toxic gasses from some coil wire made out of something
that won't work well "at least for me" unless its fired at higher than recommended settings.
I have read, then read a bit more, then read a bunch more, and after that read more then I
care to remember.
What I'm looking for is consistency. A tank that I can get pre made coils for, I don't need huge
clouds but a good hit that will satisfy. I've taken to the direct inhale but still like a mouth to lung
inhale once in awhile. So far im not overly impressed with TC, maybe SS coils would
give a better hit in TC?
So I guess what i would like to know is, is the tron tank and are the joyetech coils any good? is it me
or are they just so so?
Any recomendations for a different tank that has pre built coils that are consistent?
Thanks for any help, just trying to keep off the cigs .

I believe the Tron uses the same coils as the Ego mega tank, and they're not very good in my opinion. You might be happier with the popular Kanger Subtank Mini or Nano. The main difference is that the mini comes with an RBA in case you ever want to make coils.

I would have to say for a good no fuss tank with good coils and good coil options including ss would be the Atlantis v1 or v2. I don't have much experience with a lot of tanks but the v1 was my first subohm tank and has been great, no leaking what so ever I've been on the same ss coil for about a week and a half now. Good clouds and flavor and everything is reasonably priced. For bigger clouds and better flavor try the v2, both tanks use same coils. I just ordered a tobeco super tank mini, have heard good things about it and also uses the Atlantis coils. Here's a link to a good US site with Aspire tanks coils and other brands as well.

The evic mini is upgradable to 75w, which gives you plenty of options. For coil durability, the Aspire Atlantis V2 is good. But what is getting me away from analogs is the Herakles, which is a little more intense. Coils still pretty good. For lower power options, tanks like kanger sub mini, silo beast, and a few others can do well. I use kanger for work and car, Herakles when I need something with more kick. The flavor and clouds are nice too. No reason to pay much for any of these or their coils as they have been around awhile. I go online and ebay but US not overseas. I generally use 3 nic juice with 70 or 80 pct VG bit you may prefer other.

Yep I believe you're correct, I probably would like the mini and nano but I have ruled kanger out due to personal experience with them.
That's not to say those suggestions aren't good products. Its one of those things I swore i'd never buy a product from that company again.

I had my sights on the silo beast but the local vape shop ran out of stock, I live in Canada and with our dollar in the crapper
the exchange rate ordering from the US is crazy right now. One of the reasons i got the evic mini is so I could try SS coils,
is there any good prebuilt SS that are supported by atlantis V2, herakles, crown?
Whats the reference to analog when referring to tanks?

Also about the .5 Ti Clr coils, I decided to remove the little juice adjustment ring in the middle of
the coil to see how that works and i have to say it makes it "usable" with my high VG juice. It still doesn't give a good
kick but its much improved from the wispy vapor it normally gives with the ring attached. I would bet with 50/50 juice
there would be some flooding. Also since removing the ring im getting slight rice crispys popin now, whereas before
in TC mode there wasn't any poping but that might be from a little water left in there from cleaning the tank.

For SS coils, Crown Uwell or Aspire Triton SS coils in either Triton or Atlantis 2 tank. Maybe watch a few YouTube vids, but the Reddit forums and this one tell the good, bad, and ugly..... Not just latest hype when each new tank arrives.

I mentioned analogs because I found the Herakles had a tighter draw and warmer vape...... No SS coils for original Herk though.

I don't have a tron, but I have several versions of the ego one and wismec amor tanks that use the same coils. I much prefer the clr coils. These are rebuildable or you can use them just like any other replaceable coil.

I really had hoped Joyetech would not Install a Ni200 coil in the included tank (Ego One Mega, or Tron.) Some new vaper is going to try this device in power mode and will ruin the coil, the tank, or even the device.

If you're looking for fabulous flavor from SS coils, my favorite are the Crown 0.25 ss coils in power mode. But it'll use most of your wattage and run a single battery down relatively quickly, depending on how much/how fast you vape. Worth it though imo!

Yep, thats me. Vaped with the Ti coil in TC with weak results. Switched to power mode, much better results
but after a minute I saw a nice flash of orange light....immediately switched back to TC. I could care less
about a ruined coil but definitely prefer less fireworks and all the fun stuff that comes along with that.

Im totally happy so far with the evic mini. I don't understand though why when changing wattage in temp control it only
goes up. Not the end of the world but a pain in the d. But other wise its pretty awesome.

That's likely the direction i'll go, the crown or the atlantis2. But since yesterday I've had a 180 change in mind. I think
i'll put aside the tron tank (not a terrible tank) and just pick up an nautilus mini. Im looking for a good reliable vape so
i can avoid getting....umm crazy from inconsistent nic levels. (there should be a vape term for that.)
When i get good consistency i'll go looking for something with firepower.

The interest I have in SS coils is the idea of TC to avoid burning.
Is it a characteristic of SS to give more vapor and better taste as opposed to Ni/Ti or just different coil specs?

edit: Yeah about the battery, I thought that might be the case when getting a different tank so I picked
up extra batteries. A guy at a store tried to tell me the eleaf 40-60 "can't remember which one" is
just as good as the evic mini because you can vape while it's charging if the battery is low.
Just some advice to anyone who works at a vape store, the above thought process is like telling
a smoker "you can still smoke but only beside the wall, or in your car or in front of your computer".
This is not so far from the reality smokers face but they sure don't like to hear it lol.

I just started vaping three weeks ago. I started with the VTC mini with tron tank.
Having COPD and not taking treatment for it. (diagnosed 6 yeears ago and continued to smoke)
I couldn't use the mini without coughing up a lung. I started using a 20 watt istick with the nautilus tank
running it at 9 watts. within a week and a half, I was breathing much better. I tried the mini again
and was able to run it up to 25-35 watts.

I had to replace the coil and put the Ti coil in that came with it and it sucked running it at 25-30 watts like I was.
I put it aside for a few days and told the folks at the local shop about it. (not the folks I bought it from)

One of the workers there took it and set it up to run on temperature control. While he was working on it,
I was vaping on the istick. I had the same juice in both units. He started pulling big clouds from the mini and
handed it to me and said try it now.

I hit it about three times and I couldn't believe how smooth it was. He had it on 400 degrees and I bumped it up
to 500 and it was like night and day. Those three hits made me dizzy, it really brought out the nicotine and flavor compared to the istick. I vape the mini more now than the istick.
I really like the 20 watt Istick running the aspire nautilus at 15 watts. I use them both now all day long.

But back to your tron tank. Try it using the titanium coil set up for temperature mode. It made an incredible difference in how mine performed.

I'm just a newbee,, so this is just my 2 cents.

@Brushy Bill,
thanks for the comments. shortly after the above post i moved on to the crown tank and nautilus mini.
the nautilus mini is good but not great for the way i vape (coils aren't big enough to keep up).
The crown is really good and suggest you giving it a try considering your condition. Dry hits are your
enemy and burning coils are not great for someone like you. On the crown it's difficult to burn a coil or
get dry hits, you almost have to try for that to happen less the coil just plain wares out.
I did like the titanium coils over the others on the tron but since getting the other tanks I haven't touched
the tron.
You might benefit to upgrading your vtc mini to version 3 if you haven't done so yet. The update has
a TCR setting that seems to work great. Just make sure to change the default settings to whatever
coil you're using.

@judo

Thanks for the input. I had a bad experience with the tron tank friday. The first time I hit it,
it spit and sputtered and something hot hit the back of my mouth/throat. I assume it was hot jiuce.
It still hurt well into saturday. Made it very difficult to vape. Even with my back-up ileaf istick in 20 watts
with the nautilus tank. (I run it at 9-12 watts)
I had bumped the nicotine up to 9mg, from 6mg a few days before hand.
I had a bottle of 3mg juice and put it in the istick and was barely able to vape it.
Later saturday, I was able to vape the 3mg fairly comfortably at 9-12 watts..

The coil in the tron tank was only two days old. It seems to hit very well when first starting a new coil, but
once it sits for a while it does seem to spit and sputter. Although friday was the worst one, I cant take anymore
of those. I think I am going to stick with the istick for now and order the KangerTech Subtank Mini for the VTC mini
and retire the tron tank.
From what I have read, making your own coils in the Kanger seems to last a good while.
I am only into vaping for about 4 weeks now. I have been amazed how much better my breathing is already.

Running the tron tank in Ti mode, it was running 35 watts and usually it was painless when it fired good.
If I would have tried that when I first started, I would have hacked up a lung.
I am hoping that the kanger will give a more consistent hit for a longer period of time.
The lady at my local shop uses a kanger and she recommended that I blow into the air intake
and hit the button to kind of blow it out and get it started after it sat for a while, especially after it
sat over night.

I did do the v3 update on the VTC earlier last week. I was reading about the options with the settings.
Will study it more when trying out the kanger tank. I can get the coils for the tron and nautilus both for $18
a 5 pack locally. But, I think I would be better off wrapping and stuffing my own coils.
I have watched several videos of folks building coils for the kanger, it looks pretty painless. Once I get
used to how much cotton to use, I think it will be the way to go for me.

Thanks again.

@Brushy Bill you've done yourself a bit of good by getting off the stinkyes. Congrats!!! If you can find the Triton mini Clapton coils, put one in your nautilus and experience a much improved flavor at the same or slightly higher wattage on the iStick. My nautilus tanks were side lined and nw they're back in rotation.
Cheers,
Brewbear

Thank you for the encouragement , and the suggestion on the coils. I had no idea those were available.
I will definitely order some as I got another istick in 20 watts for an aspire mini tank I had not doing anything.
It is about time for me to order coils for it and the nautilus anyway.
Looking forward to trying them.

Vape on,, onward through the fog.

Have you tried any CLR heads yet, in your Tron?
Many say it's way better than using stock ones, and easy to rebuild, plus can even use SS wire.
Well, at least better than chucking your Tron in the bin anyway

No, I had only used an exact replacement in the tron. Does not matter now to me though.
I listed the tank and a box of coils here on the military section, free to a good home.
First response was from a guy with an address not 10 minutes from my house.

I couldn't believe it, I could have ended up
mailing them across the country. Instead, I drove into town the next morning and handed them to him. Never had met the guy before that.
Ran into him a few days ago and he and the tron seems to be happy together.
I am currently running a Kangertech subtank mini on the VTC mini and have been enjoying it. Will be trying some of their nickel temp control coils soon.
I have wrapped a couple of coils for the subtank. Neither leaked, the first one ran great. Thought I would try another and it
didn't work very well. Think I had the cotton
too tight in the coil.

Will be sticking to the prebuilt coils for a while.
Will be trying to clean the used ones with an
ultrasonic cleaner like some use on dentures.

Free to a good home, I like it.
On Subtank mini you can try leaving the cotton sticking out a little and just cut them off.
Don't stuff them back inside.
But that's when using the old stock 1.2 OCC square horizontal heads with the split top.
I think Rip Tripper has a video posted on how to do it.

Something to try some day when you're bored.

Some also rebuild them with vertical coils too, but it looks to be fussier.

I got a 50pk of pre-made coils from FT, cheap, that drop into the CLR coil heads easy peasy. I re-wick them with rayon and the flavor/performance/longevity is leaps and bounds above the factory coils. Once you get a good and consistent method figured out, it takes the Ego Mega from one of the worst tanks of 2015 to a pretty good option. If they fit the Tron, I guessing it would work just as well.
