Hi guys,

Just got a veritas today (clone). Im exploring different RBAs. Anyway, i look at a couple videos and try a single coil build on it, like phil bresardo (spelling) did on his. I had washed every part really well about 2 hours prior, and I assumed it was dry well enough. I did a few builds and each one on my ohm meter read like 10 ohm, 4 ohm, etc -- when I know those arent super high ohm builds I was doing. The first one I did didnt even register at all!

TL;DR: can moisture/wetness after cleaning and RBA cause huge resistance (10+ ohms) like this?

No. The water wont effect it like that. You have a bad connection somewhere. Perhaps you clipped the wire tightening the screws.

Think so? But like...4 times, with 4 sets of kanthal wire? Im no expert but ive been building for a couple months now for several different rda/rbas...never seen this. I guess I'll have to keep playing with it.

Are you using an ohm meter or mod to check? Have you tried other attys on what you are using?

I'd take a look at the positive 510 insulator....

There is a company that sells a peak insulator, i googled it and eventually found it. Might want to look into that. I killed mine when I forgot to unscrew the guard on my Panzer mod. Came back with a melted insulator, a dead battery and cotton wick that looked like a tootsie roll. Had to boil that thing three times to get it clean. hahaha

Thanks guys for your input thus far. Another tidbit that may be recognizable to someone with veritas experience...

After it started giving me wacky ohm readings (on ohm meter, not mod) i noticed the center screw, the one that goes all the way through it and has the nuts on top....it kinda is loose. I mean, you can push it either way if you push reasonably hard enough. I had unscrewed the two screws and the little whitish insulator thing, then back on....i mean it was doing that even before I did that, but it didnt seem to help.

in other words, you can oush the 510 pin up and down with reasonable force...is this being slightly loose have anything to do with it?

The insulator on those is famous for having issues, try not to build yourself to far below 0.75-1ohm. mine melted at a 0.5. also watch your dry burning on it and even where the positive leg catches the top.
Oh one last thing, screw down those nuts on the top of positive post nice and tight, if they are loose they will give you a higher resistance(the nuts that hold your positive kegs down. also the negative post screws. your connections on the VERITAS can cause some skewed readings very easy.

I think one of those nuts is supposed to tighten the 510? while the other one tightens the coil legs?

If any part of your 510 is loose ,you can almost expect ghost ohms.

Yeah exactly, but if either one isn't tight like a Nunn it'll show High resistance

You tighten the bottom one all the down, then tighten the top one down to catch the positive leads. But you need to bring that top me as far down as it'll go, with some wire you'll need to wrap the post to get that nut tightened down,

thanks again guys. Yeah I have a marquis clone on the way, and a magma clone. Heard all 3 were good flavor chasing mods. When I hit something I can vape around 1.5 ohm with rich flavor, im gonna vape my NETs on it.

Side by side my opinion Is :::the magma is the easiest to build on with the tightest draw, the marquis is just a but harder to buikd on (not much) with a slightly looser draw. the VERITAS is the hardest of the three to build on, with the loosest draw.
All three are great flavor attys, the VERITAS is my favorite vape of the three.
That all said, the performance of the three is actually very similar overall. The magma I tend ti always wanna use un dual coil to open up that second airflow hole. the VERITAS really shines the most for me in single coil, you can get a great Vape off that one without needing a whole lot of power.

The wire going to the top nut could be touching on the way down. It has to clear the rear large metal portion. Look at rip trippers video on it.
