Just need some battery advice

So I've been vapin for about a year now and I've gone from the bottom (actual ecigs) to mech mods... I got some mods for Christmas which came with batteries however I've noticed that my negative end to the battery has started getting a black spot... Now I know that arching occurs during the process of firing these bad boys but what need to kno is it safe to keep using? How do I clean it? And any other general advice.

Thank you for reading my fellow vapers

When it comes to batteries, better safe than sorry. Use name brands, (Sony, LG, Samsung, etc) Use a quality charger, (Nitecore, Efest, ) and I stick to regulated devices with built in safety features. Curios what batteries your using. Is it the same mod that is spotting your battery?

I got a tugboat clone which came with a Samsung icr18650-26F and a vapelyfe clone mod which came with a lgdbhg218650

Here's a picture of the battery I use the most

The lines aren't my concern but the spot in the middle is

I use a sony vtc3 on my evic mini but I've also purchase a 18650 efest and a efest soda charger, so I'll switch the two batteries and have them charged on the same charger. Is it something common to all vapers or is just a mess and a not safe one?

Samsung 26F is not a high drain vape battery and only has 6 Amps Not for vaping It could easily over heat and vent at the current needed for vaping. The LG HG2 is good to go 20A at 3000mha.
Stick with Samsung, Sony or LG but make sure there a 20 Amp high drain. Samsung 25R is a very good battery also. Look at Liionwholesale.com for info. Some of the popular battery's are LG HG2, HE4 or HE2 Samsung 25R or Sony VTC4 or VTC5. Stay away from re-wraps as there all B stock of one of the mentioned batteries and usually have inflated specs.

I see that the vapelyfe is a hybrid mod They are considered as a somewhat unsafe style of mod. I never owned a hybrid so I'm only going by what I've read and heard. I'd suggest doing some research on that style of mod.

So as far as the battery goes in the link just get a known brand? Like Sony vtc or something. But looking at picture would u say the spot is caused by arching

I would say, yes it's from arcing. I would think it's not making good contact. The picture looks like the LG HG2 battery so its a good vape battery. Hopefully someone with that mod will chime in with better info or start a thread about it in the mech mod section. The way it's posted only battery guys will look at it but if you post about the mod you'll get better help.

Does this make the battery unsafe? If it's got arching damage. And as far as bad connections i left a little gap so I could hear and feel the battery shake about until I press the firing button. Should I make that solid? So I can't feel it move or anything?

The battery's fine its the mod that's the problem and I can't help with that. But for safety sake I wouldn't use the mod until you get it sorted out.

I am not familiar with your particular unit but in general, If you can feel the battery moving around inside a device, it's not quite tight enough... You don't want gaps at the contact areas.

Could liquid have gotten down there?
Have you tried wiping it with a damp paper towel?

I am not kidding when I say that half my 25Rs have gotten a dark spot to some extent at one point or another. If any dirt gets on the contacts of your mod or on the battery, it could result in mild arching or just excessive heat at the contacts which bakes the contaminate onto the battery. Could be anything, eliquid, dust, grease/oils from your fingers. Over time it builds up and starts getting baked.
