Kanger Nickel Coils

Hello all,

Anyone else think these things suck? I have been through almost 10 of them and all are the same; decent vapor production and almost no flavor. I feel like the nickel needs more power behind them but the max wattage / joules is like 45. Anyone else find this to be the case? I ask because all I read is rave reviews but find my results to be not so rave. For those that use / used them, what is your opinion?

Are you using vertical or horizontal? For me the vertical stink, I get much more flavor from the horizontal nickel.

They are the vertical. I'll try out the horizontal coils next. Thanks for the tip.

I've really dislike the KANGER nickel coils. They usually work okay the first day but by the second day they're already tasting either metallic or burnt. I don't even run them at very high wattage. I've had nothing but trouble with them compared to any other nickle coils I use.

What other nickel coils are you using?

I meant other nickle coils in other sub-ohm tanks. The Herakles Ni200 0.2ohm and the Smok TCT N2 0.15ohm coils perform far better.

Ok that is what I was wondering, which tanks. Thanks for the info.

My local B&M is no longer going to be carrying them. It's been that bad for them.

I'm wondering if this may be a wire issue. I don't know what's inside. But I've noticed when I use 28 gauge. My flavor goes south, and the coils just suck in general.

I make my own at 26 gauge, and it's perfect.

I tried a horizontal coil and while it was better, it still was a bit lacking. However, it's more than likely my own personal preference that is forming a biased. I prefer a warm vape so I just don't get a satisfying hit from temp control. I have a brother who vapes when ever we hang out, he tried temp control for the first time last night and loved it. According to him the flavor was great and the vape was pleasent. He also prefers 15-20 watts so for him it was perfect. I'm going to pick up a Starre tank sometime next week and I'm looking forward to trying the nickel coils at a higher heat and wattage.

I picked up a set of horizontal nickel coils last week for the subtank. For the life of me i cannot find a setting that works for me. I'd be curious if anyone enjoys the kanger temp coils what settings they prefer. I have the ipv d2. I dont really get burnt hits, just dry hits if that makes any sense. I've ran it everywhere between 350°-450° and everywhere between 20-50J and i cannot seem to find a pleasant vape. So if anyone has a setting that they actually enjoy, i'd love to try it out and see if it works for me!

I use 25J and 420--440F, start the Kanger coils low, for me 2--3 tanks to break in.

Okay, good to know! I didn't think about a break in period. I'll give those settings a try for a while. I also switched to a 60vg/40pg juice, which seemed to help a bit. I'll run through a few tanks and see if there's any improvement. I appreciate the help!

Yep...I'll revise my earlier post. About 3-4 tanks into it and the flavor and vapor have improved. Or it's all the head blows I suffered back in the day. So either way me happier. What were we talking about?

That's good news, nickel definitely takes longer to break in, they usually get better with use, I usually get at least two weeks out of one.

Well, I guess my first ten coils were duds and 11 is the charm. I put a new nickel coil in Sunday night and this one is working great. While I much prefer a warmer vape, being able to get a constant and consistent vape with decent flavor (still not as good as the .2 Nichromes) seems to be a fair trade off. I feel like a few more joules and degrees higher and it would be perfect. I'm really looking forward to getting my Starre tank and try out a more capable ni200 coil.
