Kanger RBA replacement

Anybody know of a different rba that can be used in place of the rba mini that came with my toptank?

Maybe something aftermarket or from another brand that plays well with my tank?

I have a few other tanks that have better build decks, but the performance I am getting out of this rba leaves a lot to be desired. I just hate to see it stuck in the cabinet out of the rotation.

I think I would probably be just as well to buy another decent rta/rba tank for $20-30 instead of buying a different rba for $10ish, if one is even available. But doing the sensible thing just isn't my thing sometimes. Hard for me to just leave it in the cabinet.

Thanks. I might givwe it a try.

I have drilled out the juice holes a bit, but didn't want to get carried away. And yeah, the high juice holes don't make much sense to me.

The TopTank is already using that RBA. It is called the Kanger RBA Mini Plus. The Subtank models are the ones that comes with the old RBA called the RBA Mini (without the plus).

The ones pictured in PuffOn's link have bigger and lower juice holes than the "rba mini plus" that came with my toptank kit. Maybe I got a mistake? Got it right when it came out and maybe they modified it since? I am thinking i will just end up PIF-ing the toptank and replacing. Have a couple friends that need to get off the cigs and gas station cig-a-likes.

My Top Tank came with the new "V3" rba.
Small holes set higher
Not the same as the rba Mini Plus
I just use the RBA Mini Plus in the Top Tank

The V2 isn't all that bad. I did find 2mm coils seem to work the best. Anything bigger and the airflow from the deck gets "choked" by the coil and wicking. It's not the best tank setup, but I still use it fairly often for traveling due to it's size.

Bought two mini rba plus's for mine and the Mrs.'s subvod mega's, one had issues with manufacturing process, the positive side of the decks parallelism and tapping process went completely wonkers, the other accepted my very first build, a ni200 at that.... And fires killer with a pancake wick completely stock!.... Although I am a die setter/machinist and can read calipers and also a ham is healpful.. Ni200 30ag on a 6/38 machine screw 8 turns bazinga!

I've been using and experimenting with the KangerTech RBA V2's quite a bit. I first started out using 3 mm and sometimes slightly larger coils and they seemed to work fine. Recently I drilled out the small holes in the sleeve and drilled up to 1/8" holes.
When you compare these with the SSOCC original coils, the original have very large holes in the side plus a smaller diameter hole in between them.
A few days ago I was reading a discussion on larger coils less wraps vs. smaller coils more wraps. I found a post where the OP went with a smaller than 2mm diameter, 8 wraps using 26g NC80 (which is the only thing I've been using so far). I used the 2mm screwdriver for mine.
Wicking these small diameter coils is a little tricky. I cut a strip off the organic cotton pad length wise as usual, then cut that piece in half. It comes out in perfect length for these RBA's and then you don't have to trim anymore off it.
Now for the smaller diameter coils, I took my now perfect sized piece of cotton, pulled it apart equally and this gives me a perfect piece to thread thru the coil. And it does provide enough cotton to cover the holes in the sleeve if you pay attention when pushing the cotton in.

On the Subvod Mega TC, I don't take long hits, actually only about 2-3 second hits. I find that anything longer causes the the dreaded burnt taste or a very hot throat hit.
Note: The first coil I used at 2mm started giving me burnt hits. When I took it apart to see why, I found one side of the wick where it comes out of the coil was completely broken, but just sitting agains the coil..lol I think I may have had a hot leg and it caused the break considering there on this build there is not a large amount of cotton in them.

Guess I'll have to try getting a whole block of cotton thru the 2mm coil and see it improves anything. Other than my first mishap, the second one I'm on now is working fine and hasn't gave me any burnt/dry hits. Seems the smaller amount of cotton wicks faster and with the larger hole it can pull in juice a lot quicker.

For some reason this forum rotates pictures around?
