I have just started building my coils I couldn't buy any nickel coils at my local vape shop and I had the rebuildable coil that came with my tank so I just went for it and ordered nickel wire. I watched a few video's and this is what I came up with 26 awg round nickel wire with 5 wraps and I get a perfect .05. I have found that spacing your coil is better than tight wraps and another thing that I found was put the coil so that your loops are closer to your hole for air flow they show it the opposite of that but I saw a video done both ways and after trying both this is the one that worked best for me. How and what are you using?

Twisted 28 awg Kanthal, not too tight, on a 2.5 mm bit at 4 spaced wraps comes to .4 ohm. Really wet and chewy vape. I've tried just about everything that will fit in that RBA and really enjoy this particular build.

I just happened to revisit my Subtank Mini the other day. I put an alien coil on it, consisting of 3x32 gauge kanthal a1 cores and 42 gauge nichrome 80 binding. It vapes surprisingly well at 1.2Ω and only 22 watts.

I run a 28g 316l SS 6 wrap vertical 2.5mm ID, comes in around .6ohms.. works great in power mode anywhere from 18w - 50w and in TC mode I run it at 430degF and 35w

Like I said I am just starting to build my own coils using the rba with the kanger toptank mini I was getting a better flavor last night at 480°f at 33w and it was good all night then this morning it tasted burnt so I turned the temp down to 420°f and it has been tasting good ever since. Does anyone know why it was running at a different temp today than the one I was running yesterday it is the same juice the same everything so why would it be different my cotton isn't burnt looking it makes no sense to me I would think if it was drying out the wick that it would keep doing it because I didn't touch the coil I just turned it down 60°. ?????????????!

I use plain old 24-26g or twisted 28g kanthal mostly (when I use it). I tried some Clapton, but found it wasn't able to wick quite quick enough. It does keep up with simpler wraps very well. I also keep them around 2-2.5mm. 3mm was a bit snug and chokes off the airflow a good bit because of it. I honestly haven't played too much with TC builds on the mini.

I would really like to suggest some type of alien build if you have wicking concerns. They are self wicking, meaning that if you place a drop or 2 of juice at one end of the coil, it will travel all the way to the other end, even without any wicking material. The one I posted above was obviously overkill, but a 3x28K/38K would work very nicely in the subtank mini RBA.

It is working great now at 420° I also notice that I start getting burnt taste when the liquid gets down below the top of the coil which makes no sense to me because it is still half full of liquid. Has anyone ever had these issues????????????

Try breaking the vacuum in the tank by just cracking it open as though you were going to fill it and see if your burnt hit goes away. I have the STM and love it. The older RBA, I feel, works better with the side holes drilled in it as the small juice ports at the bottom let you get to all the juice. I also have a new style RBA with the smaller side holes, but must fill it when it gets below the ports. Just a thought.

I wouldn't recommend a new builder start with tanks and temp control. Your multiple problems are exactly why. Rda's and kanthal are much easier to get working well and rda's outperform tanks for direct lung vaping anyway. If you start to get frustrated, try kanthal in a dual coil rda. Just a thought.

It was just the way I did my cotton that is the hardest part for me making the coil itself is easy for me. I changed the cotton and it got much better and when I was having that problem I would just dry hit to Prime my coil and then fire it up. Either way I like building my own coils and exsparimenting with different ideas people give me on here there is always room for improvement. Eventually I will get a nice drpper but I need a tank while I work so if anyone knows of a better rebuildable coil with a tank set up please let me know.

Thanks for the call lol
I would highly recommend the Griffin, the Boreas, the Diablo for any one looking for a RTA.
They are all easy to build, simple to wick effectively, and will provide enough airflow and juice control options to satisfy anyone.
I actually just did a review on the Boreas HERE

Yea Ive been to all the shops in the area and all the employees Ive met only have vaped for less then 4 months and when I started to talk about coil building or products everyone so far has gave me the glazed over stare lol I chucked it up to maybe Im a bit more involved with vaping then most and I havent really gone back to the shops...I was hoping to actually get hired at one of them but it doesnt look like anyone is hiring at those shops..
Ive been to "The Enthusiast", the Emporium, Haze and the one in Castleton...Ive bought juice from 2 of the shops and a Noisy Cricket from the Enthusiast but I think the Mods at those shops were well over priced and didnt buy much more...I dont think anyone should pay north of $50 for a RX200...$140 is just gouging people.

Id be happy to help you with that...
I also have a Kanger Tank...it doesnt get any use but I was rebuilding the coils on it for a bit. If you ever need coils or coilheads rebuilt dont hesitate to PM me and I could do that for you...I dont charge a arm or a leg like most do and since I dont need to ship them it would be around $10/pair or $5/coilhead...
This was the same issue I had with the shops in the area...most of the people working at them are very inexperienced and dont seem to know much more about the products they are selling then what can be read on the box...this is dangerous and I am surprised that nothing has happened yet...I am shocked on how high they charge for mods and gear and its one of the reasons that drove me online...the 92% tax that may go into effect after Friday would only double what they are charging now...could you fathom buying a Cuboid for $160?? RX200 for almost $240? 30ft of Kanthal for $65?
I live by Wheelz in town so if your in the downtown area sometime send me a message.

I would love to learn all the coil tricks you do I don't even know what all the Clapton coils I see on your link are those made with stainless steel or a temp control wire?

I make all the wire from various metals ranging from KanthalA1 to SS 316L. I have made Advanced TC Builds but most of the time they end up being crazy low in resistance. I choose not to use TC and mostly build with Nichrome80 and Kanthal A1/D...

Right next to or the Wafflehaus? I would seriously consider talking to Verdevalleyvapes as they do wholesale and you cant beat their prices right now and its good juice. Im not surte how to go about other juice places as Im not on the same ground with anyone else...but I could hook up the VVV line. Let me know if you plan to move forward as I would love to help and if you need anything or need info on anything just let me know!
