In place of the traditional First This Happened, Then This, Then That account of Cobain's rise to fame and tragic unraveling, viewers will get a unique, intimate, and moving journey inside his swarming hive of a creative mind.
Director Brett Morgen's approach to Cobain is that of immersion. As the first docu-project about Kurt to have the full blessing and involvement of his family, Morgen takes full advantage of the abundance of Super 8 footage of young Kurt's formative years as well as journals, sketchbooks, random audio babble, and demo musings to create a bit of chronological chaos.
