Leaky Plume Veil redo

I love the flavor that comes from a Plume Veil, but I hate the leaky mess. I have two of them, a cheapo clone, and a really nice no-name clone. Decided to plug the bottom airholes with some JB Weld high heat plumber's putty, and also plugged the airholes on the deck on either side of the negative posts.

Bingo, no more mess, and it seems to vape pretty much the same. I tested it out on the cheapo, and will upgrade the nice one next.

Noice, I'm going to have to give this a try I think. I have a plume veil and it is such a leaky fucker I hate using it and the main problem is those post air holes. Thanks!

I have an original Plume Veil and it's no better than the clones in that department. I still get a juicy mod even if I just barely wet the cotton.

I might try this fix down the road, but I bought a Little Boy and the flavor is much better imo. I rarely use the Plume now at all.

It holds a lot more juice. If those rectangular/cyclops holes were up higher, you could flood the coils and not leak. I will say, the air flow is slightly more restricted plugging the deck holes. Could always drill a pin hole next to the cyclops air hole on the sleeve to make up for it.

Agreed, but I've got a feeling that when I get the Billow rta my Plume Veil will more than likely be sitting in the box for quite a while.

To me the Billow looks like a Plume Veil upgraded with bottom vertical air flow and turned into an rta. Of course the air flow probably isn't as good as the Plume with a Chuff cap, but the convenience of an rta may out weigh that for me.

I have a Billow and love it.

How does the air flow compare to the Plume Veil?

Certainly not as airy as an RDA, but for RTA's, that are generally restrictive, the billow is much better. Considerably more air than a stock Orchid

This will actually be my first rya (except for the kracken) so I'll just have to see how it goes. Sometimes I like a little bit of a restrictive draw though so all will not be lost either way.

I will have to give this a go. Thank god I'm not the only person who has this problem. It is leaky as hell and I hate getting sticky cause I white it off with my fingers

I use my plume veil every day, everywhere I go. Its my favorite of my rdas, even over my dark horse.
All airholes are wide open, as use it with a chuff cap.

The airholes in the bottom are a pain. I keep the center one open and closed off the side ones. I used clear (now yellow) epoxy , applied with a toothpick, with scotch tape to close the back of the hole. Once dry, I peeled off the tape in the front, then sanded the back flush. Note, in the pic, you can see my finger through the center one, but not through the side ones. This epoxy has stuck in there for months.

Also, I wick a little differently than what is typically done. When I pull my cotton through, on the left side I leave just enough to touch the deck, and on the right side I leave it long enough to span over top the screws. I tuck this behind the short wick on each side. Also, depending on my coil diameter and amount of cotton used, I trim almost half from these 'top wicks', making a diagonal cut from the center, all the way to the coil.

This gives me more wick to hold juice and keeps ample air space under each coil, to help these side holes do their job.

Heres how I wick (pardon my filthy wicks).
This is the best way ive found to increase liquid flow to the coil, store excess juice, and avoid leaking. I always wicked normally and had a leaky time with the plumey. Since ive been doing it like this, this rda's performance has been absolutely top notch, with much better 'around coil' airflow to boot.

I use from 2.5-3mm coil, depending on day. When its time to drip, these wicks willl soak up 7drops on each spanning wick(14 drops total), or 8 (16 total)if I dont mind a super juicy first hit. The reservoir is simply too shallow for any kind of meaningful juice storage, and a hole in its side doesnt help matters.
I get between 4-7 solid hits before its time to re drip.

Hope this help

I hate the spinning center block. I don't want to spend 45min or more making beautiful wires, then wrap 'em and just as they are positioned perfectly the stupid post spins and ruins everything.
