It’s January, and that can only mean one thing: the Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone LEGO set is now available for purchase. It’s available exclusively at the LEGO Store, where you can order it for $69.99. Unlike many other sought-after exclusives, the Sonic set has not sold out. But that doesn’t mean it won’t, so grab it if you want it, because who knows how many of these things they made.
The set depicts the blue speedster in the iconic opening world of many of the Sonic games. It’s comprised of 1,125 pieces and includes just one minifigure — Sonic the Hedgehog himself. It also comes with some buildable enemies, including Moto Bug, Crabmeat, and Dr. Eggman in his Eggmobile.
Anyone familiar with Sonic games will recognize everything you can build in here. You’ve got floating rings, TVs containing power-ups, a lever-operated springboard, and a loop bridge for Sonic to run around. It even comes with all seven emeralds, plus a buildable display stand to set them in.
Dimension-wise, the set, once built, measures 7 inches high, 14 inches wide, and 2.5 inches deep. That may help you plan where to put it. It’s intended for people age 18 and up
This set is part of LEGO’s Ideas initiative, where anyone can submit ideas for LEGO builds. If your idea gets enough votes, it will be considered for an official LEGO set. The original designers of the LEGO Ideas sets get a 1% royalty on the set.
