Hey folks... got a LD last October.Vape near-100% VG. The tank had good flavor and ok vapor but would get a hot leg after a handful of pulls. Then arbitrarily I'd get "Dry Coil" errors so it wouldn't hit at all, even though the coil was def not dry.
Fed up, I shelved it and started using a Subtank Mini. Until a couple weeks ago when the RBA pin threads split and had to send away for new RBAs.
So dug out the Lemo Drop again, and found the same old problems, only this time I addressed them and made a modification for the thick juice I use, too. First the problems...
1. Hot leg is due to post screws loosening after a few pulls. Opening it back up and tightening those again will fit that problem.
2. The Dry Coil error is due to the center screw in the deck needing to be tightened down further.
3. But the modification I made that makes it hit SO MUCH BETTER for me, was drilling two 3mm holes into the chimney to feed more juice to the coil. The wells just aren't enough for my thick DIY juice. (However this has 2 caveats so read on before doing this yourself.)
To drill the holes I first screwed the chimney on then marked where I wanted each hole to be (one over each well where the wick tail would be) and as low as possible, just above the inside threads.
And NOW this hits like a beast. In fact the RBAs came for the Subtank, but I am sticking with the Lemo Drop b/c it is SO darn good now! (At least until my Avacado 24 comes in a couple days. ) I just LOVE IT. But there are two caveats to the modification.
1. Because there is no vacuum created anymore due to the holes, when you flip it upside down and fill it, juice will enter the holes, fill the coil chamber and drip out the drip tip.. unless you plug it first. I simply stick a Q-tip into the drip-tip before inverting to fill. No problemo. (The first few pulls will be flooded but it clears quickly.)
2. It will go through juice like a freight train. But I make all my own, so that isn't a concern for me. But if you vape expensive juice, you might see the modification as a con.
Goes without saying this modification should not be done for thinner juice. But for those who vape 100% VG and have had trouble with the Lemo Drop, hopefully these tips will help.
