Lemo V2 occasional dry hit (1 in like 100)

Hi people. I am currently using a lemo v2, on my sig 150, at around 25 watts.

I am going to buy the sig75 on Saturday due to the size, this is a lot bigger than I expected. Like I can take it out, but something slightly smaller would be good (My 30 was perfect-ish, a little too small) size, just a little bigger would be lovely.

Well, on my lemo V2 I get an occasional 'dry hit' without warning. This is very, very rare, but bloomin annoying, having a lovely tasting vape, then the next one is all burnt, and you have to close the airholes and suck some juice through, a big bubble of air escapes and juice replaces it.

So, anyone with the lemo got any idea on this? Its kind of like dry hit russian roulette, but it really is like 1 in 100, usually it wicks the juice up perfect, and tastes great (It's my favourite tank now with a thin drip tip, I lost the drip tip though, I will order the same one on Saturday when I order the 75, so I am using the one it come with. Not so much flavour).

I have never had that happen to me so I can only assume that you are taking more back to back hits than I do.

I get the occasional dry hit as well. But my main issue is it wicking from only one side. I had thought the dry hits were due to this but after reading this I'm not so sure.

With my lemo 2 you have to get the vacuum perfect or that will happen. To tight and dry hits, to loose n it leaks. Good luck

Ok, thanks people. Yeah sometime I have to create the vacuum, and suck through a bit, and then it will work fine itself, other times I don't have to do this. Quite odd, although this is definitely my favourite tank, Cheyenne (My fiancee) Also loves it. So I made her a deal. no stinkies for 2 weeks I will get you a lemo V2, hope it works!

I had a similar issue but mine was more like 1 in 50ish, I found that less is more works on the wick ..
I cut it flush to the deck, then I trim the thickness back a bit and fluff the rest so it fills the space but very loosely
I still do a quick primer pull if I have been chain vaping for a bit mostly out of reflex :)

I tend to usually drip straigh onto the wicks once they are in place before I screw don the cap, and carry on from that, but you may be right maybe 1 in 50 is closer, what I meant was it really is out of the blue and unexpected, and bloody annoying.

Anyone got any recommendations for other good RTA's? I can get one this weekend with my sig 75 when I order it.

Billows V2 is what I got to replace my Lemo 2. Never looked back and its awesome. Just keep in mind it is dual coil vs the Lemo single coil deck. I get a great vape of it, plenty of airflow, wicks very easy, and never a dry hit yet even with 90 VG juices.

I use the Epoch D1, and the Cthulhu, both top fill, both dual coil, both fantastic flavor and huge clouds (my builds anyway)
run both with 7 wrap ni200 30g 2.5mm ID, they come in around .061-.068 I run at 420 deg F 50j on my ipv4
the lemo 2 was not to stable with ni200 so I sort of side lined it for now.. maybe try ti in it some day

Zephyrus I hear is probably the best tank out. myvaporstore has them. I also have the Lemo 2 but I just got it yesterday haven't had a dry hit yet. using the already in it .5ohm coil 25watts gone through about 4 tanks of good life Butterscotch Yo.

Honestly, it is a VERY rare occurence, but catches you off guard. I use 70 PG 30 VG, that could be why, I might try some 50/50 in it ( I make my own juice and add flavour concentrates, I couldn't vape if I payed for the connoisseur juices, so I make my own :p.)

heh, make my own as well.. but I tend to go between 70vg/30pg - 85vg/15pg.. quite often the only pg in my juice is the flavors ;)

Random dry hits off my Lemo 2 (and a need to constantly fiddle with how tight i had the device screwed together) pretty much turned me off to that tank. My short runs trying the Zeph and Billow2 were a little more positive, but i still was running into the same annoyance factor in that i like to rewick daily and both could be finicky. I want to wick and go, and having to invest any real time with the process tends to leave me reaching for a dripper (which i'd prefer not to do when leaving the house).

Picked up an Aromamizer RDTA this week and it left me pretty happy. Has 3 minor flaws....a sucky flavor muting drip tip, the need to line up your coils to the airholes and an air control band that should really give you more flexibility to cover 2 of the holes (they are working on a band to fix that, which should end up costing $1. I just taped them off for now). But all of those are fairly workable issues, and in terms of vape quality they pretty much knocked it out of the park. Fool proof dripper style wicking setup (epic epic win imo), hasn't leaked on me once, best airflow of any tank i know of, and the flavor stays fairly on point with 2 of the holes covered. Haven't tried in TC yet, but really doesn't seem that's what you are shooting at anyway.

Not seeing much talk here on this yet as it's still fairly new, but it's slowly gaining some steam and recognition on another board. Ships with free DSL out of China too, which took less then four days to make Florida for me. Maybe check it out:

Although the build deck is a bit on the tight side the Zephyrus is one I have been enjoying immensely.

OK I finally finished off the liquid I had been vaping and rewicked the Lemo 2 and tried max VG. Strawberry Milk by White Label 3mg. It's a good thick max vg liquid too. Took me about 4 tries to get the wicking just right but I managed to pretty much chain vape 3/4 of a tank without a single dry hit. My first 3 attempts I tried the method of cutting the cotton just long enough to make it to the bottom of the side of the deck leaving the channels totally clear. This didn't work so well. It took awhile to get a dry hit but it happened. After that I was plugging the airflow and sucking hard every few hits to get juice to the coil. I tried this method 3 times cutting the strip of cotton thinner and thicker no luck. Finally I slid the bottom part of the chimney over and cut the wick just a little above then gently tucked it down in not worrying about keeping the channels clear. After doing this I pretty much chain vaped 3/4ths of a tank without an issue every hit was fully saturated. I have the tank screwed down fairly hard too my top fill seems to be opening a little hard so I had to.

PS- at 25w airflow wide open

OK just want to give an update after refilling it is occasionally needing a primer puff. I'm trying it now at 20w and the airflow hole about halfway closed. Maybe it is best not to use over 70%vg in this tank. I am really thinking about starting to make my DIY either 30/70 or 35/65 pg/vg. But right now it not doing too bad with the max vg. I wish I knew the pg/vg of good life butterscotch yo because I vaped about 30-35 mls (what was left in my 50ml bottle) and I did not get even a single dry hit @30watts and airflow wide open

I've had it another day now and experimented with both max VG and 30/70 and I've tried the pancake method for wicking, wicking op against the side of the deck and just lightly stuffing it into the slots. I've also tried loosening the tank as much as I can and still being able to open and close the top. The top is turning easier today. I have to recommend that you do not rinse out the top with water getting water in it seems to make it hard to turn I'm just wiping it clean for now on. Anyway I just can not get it to consistently wick well with 70vg or higher. It did seem to do the best with more cotton and just stuffed down. I am now using 50/50 in it and it is performing flawlessly even at 30w and airflow wide open. I prefer 25w though 30 is just a touch too warm for me. So looks like I'll be making m DIY 50/50 and soon ordering a large bottle of PG. It still makes a lot of vapor with 50/50 at 25w and because it stays well saturated it's fairly dense vapor and very flavorful. Overall I'm still very happy with it. Looks like I'll be getting a Zephyrus for my second tank and that will be my higher VG juice tank.

I'm gonna break down and do this.....

I get good flow and everything in 1st tank then it just goes to sucking running 70vg/30pg and boom dry hit after dry hit I tried not using as much cotton....bad idea it floods. So I'm to the point in going to try this and if it doesn't work...just go buy another different rta

If you use the Lemo 2 with Nickel wire on the Eleaf 40 watt TC you will find the best vape ever.

I drilled a 4mm hole through the base like a subtank. Solved all my wicking issues with higher vg juice.

ok I think I finally got this problem licked and I didn't modify anything. Used just enough cotton that it is just a little snug in the coil, fluffed up the ends real good trimmed it even with the top of the lower chimney and the real key is placing it in the D-shaped area very gently so you don't squish it and fill the area up. I did not move the cotton away from the channels it's probably resting right at the top or just eve so slightly above them. Wicking perfect now with 40/60 25w airflow wide open. I think I'm finally gonna be happy with this tank. :)

PS- This is gonna save me about $25-30 now I plan to get a Zephyrus soon for my second tank and a second box mod. I was seriously thinking about getting 2 Zephyrus for a little bit if I couldn't get the Lemo 2 performing better. Or even a Zephyrus and a Billow v2. I can get a second iStick 50 and a Zephyrus for about $65.

Update- On my second tank now since getting it right, wicking like a champ no dry hits and no leaks and full on flavor. :)

Well I did some looking at a lot of the stock sub ohm tank heads and then the idea of having some holes in the barrel really started to make sense to me. So last night I drilled a 3mm hole in each side just above the bottom threads in line with the juice channels. I've vaped a few tank fulls since. Even with 50/50 not a single gurgle or leak. Now I can chain vape 90vg without a dry hit. I'm really loving this tank now. :) I might throw up some pics later. I barely had to file anything either the holes came out pretty smooth.
