like the title said, I'm looking for some advice and direction on where to look.

... I guess I'm really open to parallel or series, I dont have much experience with either, or not enough to speak of. I understand the safety side of it, and I want true mechanical.

I have a few noisy crickets and a handful of tubes..... but I don't have any decent parallel boxes or series boxes.
just looking for some ideas, I'm mostly a regulated mod user.

haven't decided completely yet.
not a whole lot- probably under 100$, considering the prices on good dna mods and hexohms these days.
I'm really looking more for a good fit to get the most out of the 24mm rda.

I'm OCD and the overhang is killing me.

What about the cricket II?
Discharge cutoff, series or parallel, adjustable/constant voltage. Not all that sexy though, that's the only con I see with that one.

Edit... 24mm overhang, not sure if that would be an issue, maybe that would disqualify it.

Edit part two... it's 25mm wide.

yeah it is a 25mm, I came close to ordering it... its almost like a mini hexohm in a way.

but I really want a true mechanical.

I had a true love for mechs for a long time... before high powered regulated.
The one thing that I never did like was the descending power that is inherent. It wasn't even close to enough to push me back to into a mod that couldn't fire below 1ohm and 3a or whatever it was though (provari1)

Nostalgia though, I get it. Get your mech on ;)

haha
I have a bunch of tubes and a pair of the cricket v1s....funny though- I think I'm backwards. I started with a provari 2.5. After that I got into the DNA's and OKL boards.
For whatever reason I'm wanting to put this damn thing on a mechanical. Watch what will happen, i'll end up with another dna mod for it.

Looks like that is a straight mech so declining voltage throughout the day. Start at 12.6v (11.1v nominal) and decline from there. I didn't look too deep into the mod but that pack should go foever and you can put the 1,8oo mah or whatever you used back into it super fast with a 5c+ charge or whatever a decent pack will allow. And $10 spare packs from hobbyking ;)

Looked at it...

Our Pwm Box mod allows you to adjust the voltage of the batteries from 0 volts thru to 8.4 volts for a 2s, 12.6 for a 3s, or 16.8 volts for a 4s.

So not a straight mech. Better imo.

The Satan is my favorite series Mod, I have the Nickel plated one. Right behind that is the VCP Piglet.

Parallel I in order are Nookie V3, Margarita and Anubis. I also have a couple of Dragon Clones from Kidney Puncher, really solid performers and I use them allot.

First step would be to decide between serial and parallel based on how low you intend to build and how high you want your watts.

roger roger, was more less wanting to see the options available for a true mechanical. They are hard to find at most of the everyday online shops.
theoretically I can build in whatever way is demanded.

that said I am leaning more towards parallel I thinks

I am not as experienced with mechanical mods as I am regulated mods, but in my collection I really do love the Abaddon parallel box.

It just seems to work very well, better than my Diablo Clone (I find due to the way the bottom contacts work, the Abaddon to be superior with its adjustable contacts, and batteries drain evenly every time with it).

If it is a series mod you are after, I can't offer much advice there as I only own a noisy cricket myself which you already have.

image.jpg image.jpg For size comparison: 1590G Hooligan (unregulated series) $100 new, authentic MCM Underground (series mech)$150 new , authentic Dos Equis (parallel mech) $100 used.
Hooligan is an awesome unregulated box but it can't compare to either one of those two mech mods.
Underground is topped with 24mm Moonshot, and Dos Equis with 24mm Kennedy.

Full Mech Parallel: Tres Equis am also waiting on the new triple battery Warrior box from Silverwolf Customs. I find 3 batteries better than 2. All day carry is the El Diablo Abaddon.

Full Mech Series: MCM Underground and BOSS Edition VCP. The Underground is a fun powerful little mod that requires no tooling to change batteries, but nothing hits harder than the Boss VCP.

f1r3b1rd, thank you for asking this question since I was wondering this as well. Going to be searching for a parallel for myself. Well, going to be searching for a trade anyway... but other than that, this thread is really informative.
