Looking for a simple (rugged, but cheap) reg box device...

Hello fellow vape nuts.

I have one great and kinda expensive box mod and I find myself using it more and more for building, testing my atties on when I rebuild etc. Im starting to worry about the threads etc. Dont want to wear it out , but its so nice to use it for those reasons. Its stands up , its rugged and steady.

I would like to get something about the same size and weight and mostly as steady. I dont need anything with high wattage, mine is 60 watt but it never goes over 12.5 watts.

Something with an external battery, not build in. No temp control or any bells and whistles and of course reverse battery protection . It needs to be safe and not known to over heat or go off for no reason,

Id love to pay no more than 20 or 30, less would be great.

I dont mind getting used gear, but want to make sure it meets my needs.

Id like a simple, black device.

Whats a G2? I will do a search see what it is.
Found it, way too many bells and whistles... I want a button to turn it on, and another to power up or down, if needed.

I have 3 Provs and use them daily. I just like the box shape, its not as tall and more steady.

If Im going to pay over 20 , might as well get one of those fancy ohm readers that fire up your atty.
Cant get steadier than that :)

The original Sigelei 150 ticks all of your boxes except for price. It's a simple dual 18650 variable wattage box, no TC, no nothing. It's known for durability. Elementvape has them for $50.

Edit: Their search feature is funky. For some reason it's the very last item that shows up on page 2. Not the J150.

I found an SX mini for sale, real cheap. It has a kinda ugly skin on it , but since its covered up and I see others for sale from 100 to 200 , I wonder if its just the oldest/ original model or its a clone?

they are asking 45.00 but since its been for sale for a few weeks, might offer less.

Is there a way to know if its a real Yihi SX in the firmware or tell tale signs to know even if its covered with some skin?

What is the box mod you are currently using ?

Its a Yihi sx something "J" ? 60 watt by MMV called the Kainos. Very simple and has reverse battery protection. Ive been using it for a 1 yr and half with no problems.

I've got a bronze one, beat the snot out of it at high watts for 6 months straight, not one single issue.

G2 from vaporcube is a bargain. You don't want temp? Don't use it.

The slice is also super-priced at 30 bucks; uses a 26650. Code is "SLICEPRICE". Same FSK control chip.

The Slice is a great deal as well but bang for the buck wise the G2 is a better deal. Don't get me wrong I have 3 Slices and I love them all but their build quality doesn't even approach that of the G2. That being said the Slice is by far my most used mod. If pocketabilty is an issue then definitely get the Slice. Tbh you just can't go wrong with either it just depends on what your individual needs are.
