Looking for a small mod

I am about a month now into my vaping journey and away from smoking. I have started out with an eleaf tc100w and a Herakles Sense plus, due to taking mass transit and biking some of the time and its leaking and seeping, even with some of the tips i have read, it is still not what i was hoping for to be able to just stick it into my pocket or bag while on the go. So i got an Innokin iSub Apex, that is great for no leaks while on the go.

So now I am looking for, something a bit lighter and smaller on the mod side. I have done lots of looking but am not that familiar with everything that is out there past and present. I want something with an external 18650 battery.

Models sticking out there right now are the eVic VTC Mini and the iStick Pico. Not sure about the layout of the pico if that appeals to me over the evic. So hoping there will some more options that pop up i did not already see. And thanks in advance.

I have both, they both work very well. The Pico makes the VTC mini look huge! weight-wise, id say they were pretty similar though. I now mostly carry my Pico and leave the vtc mini in the car as backup (finally got to toss my old istick 50 backup out of the car)

I'll put another vote for the Pico in here. It's very shirt pocket friendly for running around work all day, without much fear of it jumping out, like those in the background. It weighs 5.8oz as you see it, just a touch more than a Istick 40TC.

I also have both and the Pico is much more pocket friendly. They both use the same chip so the features and performance are similar. The Melo 3 mini tank works well also.

I have a smok R200 and its one of my favorite boxes. Lightweight, compact, puts out up to 200w, and I've dropped it a few times, still firing like a champ.

The Pico is the best Stealth/Pocket mods to date, small, uses a replaceable 18650, has all the features of the Evic VTC Mini, RX200, Cuboid .. etc .. and for the price, nothing beats it until now, swapping the battery as easily as top-filling a tank, can't get any better than that,

The only reason not to pick the Pico over the VTC Mini is if you intend to use tanks larger than 22mm in diameter on it, which does not appear to be the case here based on your needs.

Lots of love I am hearing for the Pico. Making that decision hard since visually, it does not appeal to me as much but it is a bit smaller then the Evic. But the evic for some reason is more appealing, the temp up/down on the Pico not sure i would like either.

The Smok R200 does not look too bad. Will keep that as an option.

Edit: Another option, any thoughts on the Kanger SUBOX Nano

I had forgotten about the Cuboid. I had been eyeing it but for not for commuting.
Keep the options flowing if there are other ones. And thanks for the feedback, greatly appreciated!

The Cuboid Mini And Innokin Coolfire 4TC are coming out soon. (b4 the end of April.) I like the idea of an internal battery especially when on the road. Both are under $45.00.

The SMOK R200 is very light and compact, but its firmware is not complete, it can only do 80W max in TC, because it uses the same exact firmware on the R80 without modification, so do not expect to get anywhere near 200W or even 100W with it in TC mode, otherwise it is a cool light, compact, and well designed mod.

I would stay away from Kanger mods, they are so far behind in this generation, you get much superior chip, firmware and performance with the other ones mentioned here.

The Cuboid is heavy as a brick, much heavier than your iStick TC100W, and in my opinion have improper weight-to-size ratio, it feels exactly like a brick in the hand, unless you were referring to the new Cuboid Mini, but that does not use a replaceable 18650 like you wanted.

If you like the looks of the VTC Mini over the Pico then by all means go for it, these are the best options, there are a few other mods that fit your description but they are not as good as the recommendations you got so far:

- SMOK R-Steam
- Mini Volt
- Tesla Nano 60W TC
- The Nugget Mod
- iJoy Solo Mini

That's about it, out of all these i would personally chose between the Pico and the VTC Mini depending on what you like, the performance will be identical only different design, dimensions and aesthetics, and maybe the SMOK R200 if you want an ultra light dual battery mod for the longer run-time and don't mind the 80W limit in TC.

How much wattage are you looking for/using? If you dont mind being limited to 40 or 50 watts, I would say definitely look at a Mini Volt (40 watts) or a Nugget (50 watts and TC). They are both the exact same size (which is absolutely tiny), the Mini Volt looks cooler with the carbon fiber and rubberized grip and the Nugget is just straight anodized metal (chrome, black, bronze, or copper). With a mini RDA or a mini tank (I use the Moonshot RTA) its a very very small package that is almost unnoticeable in your pocket. Im more aware of my cell phone or keys than I am my Mini Volt and Moonshot. I also have a Nugget coming soon as well for the extra 10 watts.

I vote for the VTC. It's tiny, light and has all the functions you'll ever need. Skip the Kanger, even if you don't need the extra 25 watts. I've owned one for a while now and it still works fine but it's very limiting. For the price, the VTC is the best option.

Like mythical said, if you're looking for small device, the volt or the nugget are about as small as it gets. It just depends on what you need out of said device.

Until you consider that they have an internal battery that is limited to 1000-1300 mAh which is ridiculous for sub-ohming, even some vape pens have higher capacity than that, and once it runs out you have to plug it in and wait for it to charge before you can resume vaping and sells for double the price of the Pico,

On the other hand the Pico is slightly larger, takes a replaceable 18650 for up to 3000 mAh, battery can easily be swapped on the go with spares and sells for around $25-$30 bucks and is powered by Joyetech's renowned board.

IMO, the Pico killed the Mini Volt and the Nugget, unless there are other factors/needs i am not aware of.

At the pricepoint / size of the nugget.. i dont worry about battery swapping and just carry another nugget. Being able to vape while connected to a battery pack in a pinch is also handy.

LOL, so why carry two nuggets and/or a battery pack instead of just one Pico and one spare 18650 in a plastic tube?

If you're using the mini volt or nugget as your main vape you're doing it wrong. It's not made to be an all day main vape, it's a tiny little pocket carry mod you can just throw in your pocket for those times you can't have a bigger mod or don't want to have a big block in your pocket.

I keep mine in my pocket at work for when I have to go outside so I can sneak a few puffs. In that sense the battery is no concern. It lasts me all day and beyond.

Vape 101 has the Nugget for $25.99 and the Mini Volt for $27.99

Yea I already bought that Nugget. Good deal at that price, just waiting for it show. Also got the Mini Volt for $25 from Vape Slam (a buddy brought it back for me)

I pulled the trigger on the eVic VTC Mini Cubis Kit! That seems like another leak resistant tank for on the go. If i do end up wanting something smaller, i will go the route of the Pico.

I have considered if i would want something just to leave at my desk at work like mentioned above. Not really a fan of built in batteries. Like modular and being able to swap out. But those stealthy little buys are visually really appealing and look like they fit in the palm really well.

While i was at it, i have wanted a batter tank mainly for use when at home and on the days when i drive it. Since i was making a purchase, i decided, why not, I went for a Smok TFV4. Hoping for some better flavor and clouds then the Herk plus and Innotek Apex.

You guys rock! Thanks so much for your information, it was very helpful since this is all new to me.

You are most welcome, if you are after clouds and such you should try re-buildable Tanks RTAs, maybe you should start by adding the RBA heads for the Cubis and TFV4 and a spool of 26 gauge SS316L wire to your order to practice and get into building, it is much fun and you can tweak the vape exactly to your liking, you will also save a ton of money buying disposable coil heads.

Perhaps after I learn more and get some more experience. I will have 2 tanks now with that capability :)
Again, thanks to all who tuned in for helping educate me. This past month has been a ton of learning i was not expecting. I was just going on a co-workers recommendation of a setup and through i would just be spending my time looking into juices (been doing that too).

Sorry Snake, the notice must have gotten flushed. That's the Sikary Dicey Saint tank I got from My Freedom Smokes. It's a touch smaller than the GS tank, but holds 4ml, and has .5, 1.0 and 1.5Ω coils available. Air flow opens up better than the GS, but a good MTL for me.

That TFV4 is a tank that requires quite a bit of power to get good flavor and vapor. Kinda worried your VTC mini might be a little under powered for that tank...

R200 w/tfv4 has been a great combo for me. Tank works well with anything 150watts+. It's true that smaller mods don't cut it. My ipvd3 can't pump out enough power for the tfv4 mini.

Crown or Herk plus would have been a better match for the evic mini. I have two vtc minis, Crown on one and Herk plus on the other. I prefer the Crown over the Herk plus by a nose...

Great information, thank you :). Given that, I think it will be used mainly on the tc100w that i updated the firmware on to 120w. Looking forward to some better vaping on this tank though.
The eVic I think will be used with tanks that i feel comfortable that will not leak, like the iSub Apex i have and what i have heard about the Cubis that is coming with the eVic.

But i am learning as i go and this is all great information

The evic mini has no trouble what so ever running the Crown tank. I use the ni200 coils in tc. Keep my watts at 50 and my temp is usually at 500°. Battery will last any where from 100-125 puffs...l use the LG doo doo browns...l use the Herk+ on my other one in tc. SS temp mode with settings same as the Crown...Such a great little mod, l bought two of them...lol

As an update, the eVic VTC Mini is working out. Great little mod that fits better in the hand, back pocket and bag when on foot and not traveling my car.
I got the Cubis tank with it and it is so so. But it does not leak. On the mod currently is the iSub Apex that i do like better and also does not leak.
I really do like the mod, it is light, easy to fire and fits well in the palm.
