Looking for my First real mod

Hello all,

Like the title says I am looking for my real box mod. I have a Kanger Evod Pro now with .5 coils but I believe it only fires up to 35 watts, but I like it's easy of use and top fill design and super easy to change coils. But want to graduate to something nice with a nice tank. Here is what I am looking for:

Easy of use, A buddy let me use his Sigelei 213 and loved the clouds it makes, but I don't need all the functions of different settings of SS,Titanium, nickel coils, but I like adjusting wattage.

Easy to use tank with easy coil replacement: Here is where my Vaping knowledge is very limited, I don't know what a good easy use, clean, and change coil tank is.

The hit matters: My evod pro hits pretty tight to me, which I like. My nephews kanger kone with the pangu tank does not and have to cover one of the air holes to hit properly.

I want the ability to make decent clouds while still have a nice cool vape. Price doesn't really matter (would like to keep box and tank under $100) but no biggie.

Thanks for any advice fellas!

If you want the ability to blow clouds and still have a cool vape then you should really consider a tc mod. I would personally stay away from any of the Sigelei mods that have come out in the last 6 months. The quality of the boards they are using has gone down signigantly lately. If you're going to get a TC mod I would highly recommend one with an FSK, YIHI , OR DNA board. Any one of those boards would allow you to have clouds while controlling the temperature of your vape.

The tfv8 octo coil at 100w is a pretty cool vape TBH
The clieto 120 at 80w is a pretty cool vape as well.

For me if you want clouds and not dry hit protection you don't need to bother with TC you just lower the wattage a bit.

For the money, I'd suggest a TC capable mod as most are today anyways, and if you ever decide you want to try it, you'll have a mod that will do it. Are you looking for a single or dual battery device?

I have no idea what the different boards means lol. But looks like I will probably have to get a TC mod anyway.

Probably a dual setup as I already have plenty of 25r's, and should last longer before having to change batteries right?

Did you use those 25rs in single battery mods before?

Well, if you do go with a dual battery mod, it's advisable for you to invest in some new batteries to "marry" as they will perform better than just sticking a couple of mismatched cells in it. I always recommend a couple of "married" pairs for a dual battery set up.

Where would be the best place online to purchase this, I've only been in local stores and never bought vape stuff online?

Also how long does the coils last on that tfv8 tank??

Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Been using the same .15 Oct coil in the TFV8 for a few weeks....don't go nuts with the wattage and they last a long time with good flavor.

Is that the rebuildable it comes with just add the cotton? And I wouldn't probably go over 150 watts.

If you stay below 100 watts the coils last forever.....I toss them after a few weeks for better flavor, but they still work fine.

1. Don't jump at the first thing you see.
2. Research a handful of mods before making any choice to ensure you are getting something that fits in line with what you are after today and possibly options that you may not need today but may interest you later. (Temp Control)
3. Always marry your batteries for life if using more than one. This will ensure longevity.
4. IF you are in the states you could start here for a place to order from; http://vapingunderground.com/threads/vendors-that-ship-from-usa.266680/
5. As far as suggestions for mods;
a. SMOK H-Priv - a little big but works like a charm
b. SMOK Alien - small and awesome
c. HomeWrecker G2 - big but does it ALL
d. SMOK X Cube Ultra - a little big with extra features like lights, heptic feedback, and Bluetooth if you're into that.
e. Wismec Reuleaux 2/3 - can be dual or triple battery depending on your mood.
(almost ALL the Reuleaux have the potential for a bad 510 adapter (where you thread your tank onto))
f. Eleaf Istick TC100 - small, older tech, but works well
g. IJOY LUX - This is a dual 26650 mod so it is large but works well
h. Koopor Primus - just as large as the LUX however it is a triple 18650 mod
I. Vapmod Spartans - same as Primus, triple 18650
j. Limitless Box Mod - medium size, works well and simple
k. SMOK R200 - barely smaller than the H-Priv and works well
l. Pioneer4You IPV5 - large, heavy and as long as you don't care about the paint job it's a durable mod
m. Laisimo S3 - about same size as the X Cube and works well
n. SMOK Micro One 150 - small and works
o. Vaporesso Tarot - small and a bit underpowered but if you're ok with turning it up higher than normal to get the same result it works
p. Eleaf Istick TC200 - just a basic triple 18650 mod

As I said, research before jumping on any.
There are a million options.
If you have the time and want to watch full detailed reviews that take about an hour each because he disassembles them and provides extensive amounts of detailed info, check out Daniel at DJLsb Vapes on youtube.
I own at least one of each of the mods I mentioned so if you have specific questions, feel free to ask.
I also have a handful that I didn't include because I didn't feel there was any reason to suggest mods that'll not impress you.
Doubt you want touch screen mods or ones that make coffee.
Ok, so I don't have one that'll make coffee.
YET.

For blowing clouds, only a portion of that is due to the mod.
A mod being able to provide enough power to the coil you select.
Having the right juice and tank/coil/RBA/RTA/RDTA/RDA or what have you is more important than a specific mod.
As long as it'll produce the required wattage, you're fine.
What that required wattage is will depend on the previous list.

Thank you this well thought out list. I have watched over an hour worth of youtube videos now on just the rx200 mod and tfv8 tank now, and still will research some more on those you listed. Thanks especially for the USA distributer thread, as I am in North Carolina. And no, I don't need anymore touch screen technology as my phone and tablet are enough, and doubt the screens available are big enough for my fat fingers lol.

Thank you for clarification, with the way you worded it I associated it what I do know is car audio. The mod is like an amplifier as it will provide good clean power, and my tank/coil/juice will be the speakers. A good mod with bad speakers still is junk, and vise versa'.

So, while researching some more I checked my local vape stores facebook to see if they have prices listed. The closest one to me owner has his used rx200 for sale with a new tfv4 tank and 3 brand new 25r batteries for $55 if I get it tommorow. Is that a good deal?

While the price is indeed good, don't forget to factor in you're looking at used gear.
The TFV4 or the TFV8 - either one will treat you well as long as you have the power to push it.
The TFV8 would like about 100 watts more than the TFV4.
I have a few of both the RX200 and RX2/3.
If I could only choose one, I'd pick the 2/3 simply because it has the option to be EITHER dual or triple 18650.
Either of those will supply you ample power for either the TFV4 or TFV8.
I also have multiples of each of those.
I can't say I like either one over the other.
My personal preference is neither because I like the Micro TFV4 better for flavor.
Since you are after clouds instead of flavor and since the TFV8 can run up to 260 watts (assuming you can provide enough power to it) maybe that'd be the way to go.
Or you could say ta hell with either and get a CCI Triforce 30mm tank. lol
If I were simply after clouds, I'd probably get the Koopor Primus, or

You can achieve the same end result with a properly setup iJoy Combo RDTA using only 70-100 watts.
Or a Limitless RDTA Plus.

I just picked up a Wismec 2/3 and a Tobeco supertank from eciggity for $64 shipped. If you go with a tank that takes atlantis style coils they are easy to find and there are plenty to choose from. Vaporbeast has the playboy tc claptons for less than $4 a box right now. Good luck with your new set up when you get it.

for tanks (with premade coils so you don't need to build)
TFV8, TFV4, or clieto

for mods
Hohmwrecker G2, IPV5, or any newer smok mods (alien, xcube ultra, hpriv)

I'd stay away form the RX mods personally. Not saying they are bad, but there are better options

ecig.com is a great site for pricing and fast shipping. whats the budget you are looking to spend?

Looking to spend under $100 for the mod/batteries/tank. Should be fairly easy online, I would think.

The rx200/tfv4 tank at my local vape store sold this morning before I could get over there, so that's a no go.

I think I am pretty set on the tfv8 tank, just need some more research on a few mods.

You can even temp control the kenthal wires in the TFV8 tanks. It's my personally most used set up

Hey mj!

If you'd consider a single cell mod. I've seen the Lavabox M online somewhere selling for $70 ++. I'd snatch that uo in a hurry.

By the way, if there's anything I've learned with vaping, you don't need high wattage to blow clouds. I'm a flavor-chaser but I'm blowing huge clouds with a single-coil serpent mini at 20w, 450F. Using a spaced 26g ss316 wire, 8 wraps.

It all boils down to the tank and the build, not the mod. Plus at 20w, Im blowing clouds (much thicker than a friend's with a dual-coil griffin rocking it at 55w on an rx200) for two days straight on a single 3000mah 18650. And I chain vape at various times of the day, not to mention at night if I decide to head over to a bar for drinks.

I've ditched all my dual-coil rta's and have been using serpent mini's on all my mods.

That said, I can do the same thing with an iStick pico or even my Mini Volt which are both incredibly tiny. But overall, my recommendations go to the Lavabox M or the iStick Pico. Pair it with a Serpent Mini or and other single coil rta and you're golden. Never used any of my dual batt mods or dual-coil tanks since.

Good luck on your hunt!

Oh ok, I like that tank alot, just have to find the best/cost effective place to purchase it now.

Also he doesn't mention it but the Tank comes with a rebuildable deck that screws in like a coil so you can rebuild on that if you want or pop it out and put in a pre made coil if you are lazy. It's a great way to break into building coils if you haven't done it before. But as much as the guy above said don't go crazy with don't go crazy power with the coils and they will last you a long time, comparatively these are power hungry coils. So you want decent power, a 2 battery mod would be adequate. But just in case you need to go into the 120-150w level. A 3 battery mod would give you much better battery life and you can vape the batteries to a much lower charge before the vape is impacted. The RX 2/3 or RX200S are going to be the best balance between bang for the buck, performance, and reliability out there.

Except the internal wiring is too thin and the mod really shouldn't be used over 100 watts. Plus the 510 pin is bad.

The g2 will handle 170 watts better then then rx. The fsk board in it is good for up to 260 watts it's tuned down for safety.

The 510 does suck and now that I think about the TFV4 is the Atty that killed the RX200 the most. But the S and 2/3 don't have the the same issues with broken pins just that it doesn't depress nearly enough and is prone to gaps. But it's not about the mod it's about the batteries. If he is vaping into the triple digits it doesn't matter which mod, the vape will be impacted much earlier on discharge than a 3 battery mod. So not only do you get less battery life in general the usable % of battery life you can use is greatly reduced.

So maybe the RX 200s or 2/3 isn't the best option and a Spartan, Koopor Primus, Smok Steam Engine, or even a Triade would be better buys. I just wouldn't personally recommend a 2 battery mod to someone that was getting the the Beast specially if it's their daily driver. The 200s just happens to be the best priced on that.

As for wiring I find that unfounded. I haven't heard of any issues and unless there is some clear guidelines that Wismec/Joyetech are ignoring regarding wire gauge on 510 devices it sounds more like an old wives tail like only being able to go to 50-70-83-85w on single battery even when there tons of examples that show otherwise.

I wouldn't get the kooper either. 510 issues as well. Smok tanks kills the rx cause the 510 pin on them is long. All the rx including the dna use the same 510 pin. The wiring is too small. It's why the mod gets hot. I do agree dual battery life isn't great with a tfv8 tank. I get about 6 hours on it but I vape heavy. It's 6 hours of chain hitting. Carrying an extra set of batteries isn't a major deal imo.

Except the internal wiring is too thin and the mod really shouldn't be used over 100 watts. Plus the 510 pin is bad.

The g2 will handle 170 watts better then then rx. The fsk board in it is good for up to 260 watts it's tuned down for safety.

And now while writing this at my 2nd job, one of my co-workers has a Sigelei Fuchai 200watt she used for 1 month she would sell me for $30 with 4 sets of samsung married batteries, and wall charger. Jeez, it seems like when I start looking at stuff, deals come out the woodwork

That's a good mod as a wattage mod and a steal of a price. Just don't use it for temp control.

That depends. Is it the regular Fuchai or the Fuchai 213? The older style one does do tc. The 213 style one does not.

This is the old one that does TC. I'm pretty sure it only does Ni and Ti.

The problems with it really are numerous. It is far off from 213. Temp control is broken. And yes no firmware upgradability.

That's a real bummer given how nice the devics looks... Anyway, there are a lot of amazing mods that came out and will still be coming out this year. Keeping an eye out for the minikin touch as well, looks interesting. But I may wait for what 2017 has to offer since I just bought a lavabox m.

So here it is, Got the Fuchai 200w mod and this tfv4 tank and 6 samsung 25r's for $30. I ordered the tfv8 tank for $24.99 and 3 pk coils for $9.50 and the i2 charger for $8.
So for less than $75, I think I have a good setup as my first mod.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed with sales, advice and general knowledge, yall are the best!

Thank you sir! As an update I am still waiting for my tfv8 tank and coils, and the coil in the tfv4 starting tasting a little burnt, so I stopped by the local shop and bought a tf-t8 coil to tide me over til my new stuff arrived. $6 for one coil is a little expensive for my tastes, but man does that coil give off some good flavor once warmed up. Is also drinks juice up like a fat kid loves cake, as I went through a tank in about 1 1/2 hours.
