In today’s Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #9, the final issue of the series, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones offer a tease that could signal the launch of a new Defenders comic book.
During a conversation, the married super-couple are discussing how the name “Avengers” may not have worked for their team, with Jones saying that they're more there to "defend those who can't defend themselves." Saying "defend" twice in a conversation about Marvel team names is a pretty big hint to us that a new comic for The Defenders is on the way.
Marvel has been teasing a lot of their post-Secret Wars plans for the fall recently. As part of the teases, it was mentioned that over 60 new titles will be rolled out over the course of four months. Could The Defenders be joining the likes of Invincible Iron Man as one of those 60-odd books?
