Looks like I have a stalker (vap3r).
I'm TOTALLY against clones and wouldn't buy one on a bet. As a patent holder myself, I despise thieves that have no respect for others intellectual property and blatantly violate international patent, copyright and trademark laws on a daily basis. No honest person really likes thieves or crooks.
Would you 'knowingly' buy a stolen TV, computer or jewelry? No honest person would. Buying a unauthorized/unlicensed direct copy of atomizers and mods is EXACTLY the same thing as buying stolen merchandise. There is NO way to justify giving money to a thief. 'Saving' a few dollars is not justification for becoming complicit in a crime.
My 2 cents.
Totally understand your point of view.
It's just not thought of that way in China. It's like if you see a new dance-step but couldn't use it because someone else did it first. To the culture here, it makes no sense not to do or make something someone else has already done that's proven to be good, and if you can do it better (re: cheaper) that's great. The idea of no one using the wheel because it was patented is insane to this culture. There's no feeling that if you have an idea, you should be the only one to profit off of it. Lots of people have ideas, it's whomever is able to capitalise on it that makes money.
Comparing a clone with a stolen item just doesn't work in this culture because an idea is not viewed as property. Intellectual property is really a fairly new concept to an old culture.
I'm not saying it's right, just that for some cultures, it's not a point of honesty
I did pick up the Raptor T6 clone. I've been using it with the Tsunami and Velocity (both clones) RDAs and it's been excellent and hits hard. I like the size and weight of the box and the flush button has not too short a throw, so an unusual set of circumstances would need to happen for it to self-fire in a pocket. I suppose the button could get stuck, but with minor maintenance this is really not an issue. I can use this as my daily if I want (although there's nothing stealth about it) unlike my Noisy Cricket, which I need to clean pretty much every time I change the batteries.
