I have an authentic copper Cartel limited edition mech mod that was working with an 18650 Ultrafire 3000mah red label right off of my friends charger and i used it for a good 2 and a half hours then the body started to heat up and the coil heated slow not producing much vapor so i figured it was time to charge it,i charged the battery for an hour then tried again and it didn't do anything so i cleaned every little thing on it and tried but nothing, so i charged it for 5 hours and it still won't fire at all, any ideas? Please help

use these:
Samsung 25r, LG he2, Lg He4, Sony vtc4 or vtc5

the Samsung 25r is the best all around battery for vaping.
and make sure you use ohms law to ensure your build is not drawing to hard on the battery.

what is the resistance of your build?

Get a better battery! Seriously, don't use that.

How many ohms is your build?
I can't get a different battery for a while as money is tight and i just got that one, but last time a checked a believe it was a perfect 1.00 ohm

Thanks for the recommendations and I will certainly get one of those when i can but for now I'm not sure what i can do, and last time i checked(2 days ago) it was 1.00 ohm

you can get a good battery for around 6 bucks. at www.liionwholesale.com and some good deals at www.101vape.com
if the battery got hot like that, then it was starting to vent. If you were within the limits, then either it fatigued from use over time, the wrapper could be compromised, or it may have had hard shorted.
if it is not taking a charge than it is dead anyway, But, as a general rule, any battery with "fire" in the name, is a major 'NO-NO'

Thank you for the link i'll see how that works, I've just had a terrible time with batterys, within the four weeks of having this mod I've gone through 4 different batterys

Ditto!

Don't use this mod until you get one one of these batteries from a reputable company (such as Liionwholesale.com)!

Did the other batteries die and get hot too? Id be a bit worried that something is wrong with your set up and killing the batteries.

Were the others also ultrafires? Do you have an ohm reader? ( sorry if you already said that.) When working with mechs and rebuildables its a MUST to check the resistance on a separate device like an ohm reader before you attach and fire the battery.

We dont want to see your face in yet another article about vaping injuries.

yeah because its these.
http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/UltraFire BRC18650 3000mAh (Red-silver) UK.html

after looking at the bench tests, i wouldn't use them in a flashlight.
i don't mean any disrespect, you didn't know. I applaud you for looking to other vapors for answers. In that light, as much as we are happy to see new vapors, we want to see new safe vapors.

This is the only one that got hot the others I'm not so sure i think they shorted out I've had 2 other ultrafires and they were great until they died, all my builds have been in a safe range for the battery with good ohms and i use a box mod with a display for my ohms

Everything all the mods have already said - never use anything with "fire" in the name unless you want to take a chance at starting a fire on your face!

Edited to add that when building at or above 1 ohm you're safer than trying to go stupid low with your builds, but seriously $5-6 isn't the kind of gamble I take when it comes to grievous personal injury...

That is very worrisome. Building a coil by guess-timating the resistance is dangerous. Get an Ohm reader !!!!! That was the first thing I bought when I decided to get into building. Just because there are charts that tell you 1" on this or that gauge of wire with this many wraps etc. Is not safe.

All it takes is one 100th of a bit of the leg touching something within the base of the atty to cause a short.

Sorry if about being a "nagging hen" I was not going to jump in as others were giving great advise. I was not trying to make him feel bad, but my "motherly" and "protective" instincts made me jump in when the OP mentioned:
"I've just had a terrible time with batterys, within the four weeks of having this mod I've gone through 4 different batterys"

Its mothers day and I get to nag :)

oh shit man... I'm not trying to be a rude, but that's another flashlight battery. I believe that's an LG , but another one that I wouldn't use for vaping.

how long have you been vaping? I'm n totally nor trying to be a dick, but I'm trying to get a better idea on what you know, so that we can offer constructive advice, lots of smart people in this thread.

well, I remember when I started and wondered onto a forum looking for advice... never forgot some of what I discovered I was doing wrong.

so, with the batteries, so far from what I can tell, you would be best investing in any of the 4 I mentioned, those are all generally accepted and proven to handle your power needs safely.
if you are going to play with mechanical mods, learn ohms law and how it applies to vaping. plenty of youtube vids, plenty of us happy and willing to help
if you have a regulated mod, stick with trusting that for safety. with the mechanical you are the safety. That battery as very close to making you extremely uncomfortable, so you've got a glimpse of the bad side.
also , like was said, getting an ohm meter, or some way to reliably measure your resistance and check for shorts. vaping safe isn't difficult, just a few extra steps that becomes second nature.

if you check this link there are 4 threads, here just for people new to building and vaping in general, some till be repetitious and others will have some good new info.

It's more likely an LG HG2 which is a 3000mAh 20A CDR

I thought that at first but he specified 2100 mah
LG has one on candlepower that meets that spec.
so I took it as either he doesn't know what he has, which is also dangerous
or he knows the mah
In any event, one is an 8a battery, the difference is to large to take the chance.

I agree, it's why I included an image with the hopes they would look at it and verify it is or isn't the HG2.

My son is the same way about batteries, he will stick anything in a mech and vape any build. I keep giving him regulated devices and he keeps selling them and using mechs :/

I love using my mechs, at times. Something about having not board, no ectronics, just battery and build.
but, with regulated mods, there is no need nowadays.
of course, that could be coming to a close soon. so I am all for making sure that we pass that knowledge down now, while we can.

its really nice to see an OP, that wants to learn though.

My son asks questions, has me do safe builds and everything but is so hard headed when it comes to understanding the importance of ohms law and battery safety. He is the epitome of "cloudz bruh", it's so annoying lol. Of course he is only 18 so I cut him some slack...some :)

The battery won't cut him any slack when it vents in his face.

I agree, I always check his batteries and build when he comes home. I want him to use regulated only but I don't have a spare high wattage device or extra funds to grab one for him currently.

Nice name, love Bruce Campbell.
