Mech mod troubles

As some of you may know by now I own an Avid Lyfe Peg mod. For a whole I was getting an ultra hot firing button but that's almost been completely resolved (still gets hot just nowhere near as bad). It sparks often and lots of times it seems to be struggling to fire at all. I've tried numerous combinations of a variety of fixes (builds, cleaning methods, different variations of assembly) to no avail. Here's a bunch of pictures which will hopefully aid someone in coming up with a sound resolve for me

I've currently given up on using it (and my Velocity RDA) at all and went back to my Kbox Mini + Troll RDA

Most magnetic switches rely on shaft/bore contact to provide a path for current. Those two parts don't always make good contact with each other and can cause the kinds of problems you're having. This is partially why I don't like magnetic switches. A spring is always in contact with both parts which adds an additional and usually more reliable current path (assuming it's a good spring for its purpose). Maybe try to replace the magnets with a spring and see if your problems go away. I bet they do if you can find a suitable spring. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

I would agree with Boomstick - the magnetic button assembly seems like the issue. If you can't find a way to incorporate a spring, I would try a gasket or insulator - something that can withstand high heat transfer - and custom fit it into the button assembly. Your button may stick out after the custom fit but it will have more thermal regulation. Also, keep in mind that the resistance of your atomizer has a lot to do with how much heat is dispersed, so a really low resistance will throw a lot of heat.

OMFGoogle! Found a spring on the floor at work tonight - fit perfectly, provides just the right amount of tension/compression and works 150% better than the magnets! Thank you so very much guys - I've been using my KBox mini with my Velocity and my KBox with my Troll but neither were giving me the satisfaction I needed. Now I'm back to content/satisfying vaping again [:=
Friggen love you guys!!!

If you have the time and know-how make your own spring from copper. I do that with both my SMPLs and they work a treat that way. It is rather easy actually. Just take a good piece of copper wiore and wind it into a spring. Try the tension and adjust accordingly. I've had the hot button issue on my SMPLs before I replaced both springs with copper and the issue was resolved.

Oh my's that sounds like a perfect fix as well! I'm going to switch to that this weekend when I get done copper wire - in the meantime I've wrapped a single ring of 20g kanthal around the place where the base of the buttons peg makes contact with the inside of the outer shell (in the 5ᵗʰ pic above) seems to be working perfectly along with the regular spring

Maybe also look up 'loaded springs'. Silver plated copper springs made for mechs. Silver conducts the best.

what kind of copper wire do you use..most copper wire seems to me like it would be too soft to make a spring out of.
