Read up and understand battery safety first is the very first step to understanding and determining what is safe.

Once you have a good idea on battery safety and figured out what is a safe build, you'll understand what wattage will be pushed on what coil which will assist you in building a coil for cloud chasing.

Cloud chasing is not limited to your build only. The RDA you use, the wire you use also play a role in clouds.

18650 is a size reference.
In your context, size doesn't matter.
It's about the available power of any given battery.
Battery specifics dictate coil limitations.
Have a look at Battery Mooch, what he's about and says about the batteries we use and their ratings.
Once you get a handle on how to choose battery(s), learn Ohm's Law.

assuming you use quality battery I'd use SS316L tri core clapton wire 28ga/36ga and doing 3mm id 5 wrap parallel build

Not knocking fancier builds here, I'm not. Only saying I can do well using plain old SS316L, 26ga at 3mm ID, 5 wraps. I get between 0.30 to 0.60 ohms on that and usually average out at about 0.45.

It produces good vapor on a mechanical for me, the same on a regulated. In both cases I use a decent 18650 single cell. Then, currently I'm using max Vg, switching back to 50/50 mix though. I'm not really a cloud, or flavor chaser.

I vape because it's a cleaner, safer way to use nicotine. Realize this is merely my humble opinion. As said, not knocking anyone else's style or way, only adding another way to consider.
