Melo 3 Mini- Baby fireworks in my mouth??

Hey guys!

Upgraded from eleaf istick basic to a Coolfire IV Plus (first real mod), and just added a Melo III Mini because I wanted to try a couple of different tanks out, and I'm experiencing a lot of pop and crackle. I have been careful not to fill the tank with too much liquid- and I'm currently using the 0.5 coils that it came with. Started out around 20 watts or so and increased it to 30 at the shop and figured I'd mess around with it more when I got home. My liquid is Cloud9 "Royal" (love)....and I'm trying to figure out how to get the best flavor. (Clouds aren't a huge deal for me).

I'm still really confused about what wattage range I should be using with specific coils. So I just experiment which might be a little bit of a bad idea. One of the pops that came out of this thing burned my upper lip rather nicely. Kind of scared the shit out of me.

Any suggestions as to where I can find information regarding wattage range for various coils? I don't want to be damaging them or burning through liquid.

The tank that the coolfire came with is pretty awesome (I kind of love it) (iSub Apex)...but I thought it'd be nice to have a few options to switch around every now and then throughout the day.

I like the Melo 3 tanks. We just need a little less resistance in the coil. There's a ton of other coils that fit in it.

There used to be a thread here somewhere but I don't know if it still exists with all the automatic bannings happening and the tens of thousands of lost posts.

I agree. I am learning. Less resistance, more wattage. Just added an innokin isub S to my collection. Took me forever to put it back together after messing around with it. Kind of a fun puzzle though. Really in love with innokin's top fill closing cap. Pretty convenient.

I'm a bit of a noob too and know the feeling. I just took a hot pop to the tongue lol. I'm only vaping at 17w on a 1.18 ohm single coil so I doubt your issue is too much wattage. Not if mine's popping at around half. Seems like when my airflow isn't open wide enough or I don't inhale deep/steady enough it pops.

No clue if my 'theory' is right or not regarding the popping but the ejuice is burning on the coil to create the vapor and airflow is pulling the vapor away from the coil on the inhale as well as cooling the coil a bit. I'm thinking the pops happen when juice is allowed to sit on the burning coil without enough airflow pulling the vapor away and helping cool/sustain the coil's temp. When I take a deep direct lung inhale I get a cooler steady vape, when I take a halfassed lazy inhale and let the vapor 'warm up' a bit is when I tend to experience the crackles. All just speculation on my part though.

I don't like that .5 coil, it comes with but I ran it at 20-22 watts. The .3 actually was a little better when ran at 15+20watts. Heck I even broke the .5 down stripped out on of the wires and ran it a 1 ohm. 26awg at 1ohm not so great. currently running a 4x32 twisted nich 3mm coil at .9 and, is better. But I gotta work on how to wick this thing. May have to buy some pads.

Have 1 of each coil heads fasttech sells coming. So I will have more to compare. But so far this doesn't appear to be a higher power atty to me. Seems to like 30 watts or less, for flavor and gives better clouds when turned up.. But that could just be me. I don't like changing or carrying batteries, so I keep my wattage down as much as possible.
