Hi, this is my first post but i visit and view the site and all its superb help and info.
I have been building RBA's RDA's for quite some time now and feel im quite knowledgeable in that area but heres the problem.

I no there are a few posts regarding my issue but ive tried all the answers and still no where :( I have purchased the merlin mini and i love this RTA! got the gold version and looks nice on the gold/black alien. Problem is i cannot for the life of me wick this dam thing right!! i have tried plenty of "fluffy cotton" touching the inner juice hole but not packing it and get dry hits, i have tried less cotton and got leaking, i normally vape on the clieto or pharoah or the baby beast all at 50 ish watts, im aware to take advantage of the single coil deck the watts will need to come down so im using a 0.57 kanthal single coil i think its 6 wraps at 3mm and vaping at 30w, i can get a few hits and then i get a dry one! im scared to vape the dam thing longer then 3secs in case the dreaded dry hit comes again.

please please you knowledgeable lot help a brother out.

many thanks
dan

I guess you could open it if you need more flow but as Raymo2u explained in the review it's really not a true JFC. For the most part it is always open. Glad it's working out so far. It really is a great versatile tank.

Honestly bro, I'm at a loss. What wattages are you running it at and what ohms. The only other thing I can think of is Phantomop did a really in depth wicking tutorial here.

Running less then normal @ 30w 0.68 ohms single kanthal. I really think it's because of the thickness of juice and there's two much Cotton? I haven't got anything thinner to vape on atm to try

Try brushing our the cotton with some tweezers in order to thin it out.

Managed to get some picks. Seems like the wick is choking as the top is white and the sides are gunked in juice.?

Thank you I will report back haha. Just some of the pics I've seen stack there's and I'm sat here scratching my head thinking surely that's to much

I have been using the original Merlin for quite some time now with no issues and my coil and wick looks very much like the last pics you posted.

I have never once gotten a dry hit off of it!

I'm another one with a full size Merlin (actually 2), wick pretty much the same and no complaints at all. I've also had no leaking/seeping, so I must be blessed or something with this tank. I will admit my OBS Engines have moved them back in the lineup though.

You could always try soaking your wicks with juice before tucking them. Helps keep the cotton fibers from kinking and cutting off the juice supply to the coils

After installing new wicks, I always prime them with E-Liquid before buttoning up the tank and filling it.
