Do you really need nichrome?
Not at all, use any wires you want. Nichrome is just my personal preference.
Thankfully I just prefer kanthal
Another Easy Clapton tut....just about all of them require something much like a Squeeze Release Clothespin...I use Spool Tamers now and you can stagger the clapton using them also. I wonder if that can be done with the clothespin method?

Yes, as long as its even enough to do things like this then it could be a great method for people that cant stagger with other methods to use:
