Ok need advice on mixing by weight iv recently bought some scales as im fed up with cleaning syringes IMO
What i have trouble with iv seen on 2 different calculators showing 2 different weights? Example -
Mixing 15ml batch
1% on one calculator says 0.15g
1% on the other says 0.16
Witch one would be more correct?
I understand that the volume of each concentrate can be a little different not that it would make the taste much different but making big batches of this small % could make a difference
Whats your thoughts?

Personally, I think taste is more about consistency. Your weights will still be equal in your final mix. That's just how I feel about it. You can measure each flavor you have and change the values. I haven't gone to that extreme, I ain't got time fo dat.

Yea i know the weight will be the same in final mix but the flavour % wont?
And yeah i aint got time todo that either lol should i just go with the 0.16 one? Thats what im leaning to.
How do you do yours 1% in say 10ml would you do 0.10g?

Iv looked at 2 one at http://e-liquid-recipes.com and the other is at http://dot1ml.com/mixer
I think they are working out the extra % for me as i then looked on liquid recipes and there is an option to use manufactures gravity witch then changes it to the same as the other one 15ml 1% 0.16 instead of 0.15 really dont know what one to use lol

ok
the difference between .15 an d.16 is nothing.
my calculator pints out to the thousands. that is the problem. ITS ROUNDING.

Now how accurate is your scale. Mine sucks. so if my calculator says.104 an di hit .11...CLOSE ENOUGH FOR JAZZ if it says .12 Still good enough for me.

Ive made a few thousand ml of the same flavor in small bottles (30-50ml) and they taste the same, but i guarantee you i have never had any ingredient hit the EXACT SAME weight twice in a row. its always off by a few hundrendths of a gram. Unless you got some expensive as hell scale that goes to .001 gram and some pipettes or something that can consistently release drops of less then .01 gram you are never gonna be EXACT EXACT.

you are just trying to be as accurate as possible. I guarantee you, @wllmc has a certain amount of variance he will tolerate while mixing for mamaj orders,

and to be off by .01 or .02 grams is being off by a tenth of a percent. nothing major

True, the difference between .15 and .16 is nothing. for small batch stuff it can be a bit frustrating getting that 1.014 g but I wouldnt worry to much about it. if Im making small stuff for me for example if the recipe calls for 1.5% and if I put 1.8 or 1.9% even thats fine for me. for Mama Js everything is batched on such a large that its much much easier to hit the exact weights right.

extra tip...
when you are making small batches and trying to hit weird numbers tilt your bottle/dropper and try to get a little air in the tip and tilt and push a little at the same time. that will make your drops smaller when you are getting close to where you want stop and always give your scale a couple seconds to make sure the numbers are not going to jump around on you then tare it wait a couple seconds to make sure it stays at zero and continue. sometimes you will notice if you hit tare and bounce your scale a bit it will read 0 then a negative number. always wait to make sure scale has stopped or zeroed out properly

Cheers man some great tips there il keep in mind so guess it dont really matter what calculator i use il mix a max of 50ml i reckon so should be ok!
Yeah i know what ya mean by tear button and waiting for the numbers to register iv done plenty of weighing before just not e juice IMO

Sorry iv just noticed your reply lol yeah there fairly decent scales and i have a weight to calibrate to so they are spot on as iv checked them.
Yeah i know that 0.15-0.16 aint alot but so i wont worry about that im just worried in higher % mixes like 20% of one flavour or bigger batches there might be a difference between the two lol

As you can see here for 30ml mix and 10% flavour one say 3grams other say 3.11g :/ i know this aint much difference still but high concentrated flavours there maybe a difference?

the top one is assuming a specific gravity of 1 for your flavoring
the other one is using 1.036 ish for specific gravity of your flavor

Yeah, what Matt said, because in a high concentrated flavour, you won't be using 10% :)

@Jasonfox1988 you just need to decide if you care about specific gravity. Many people just use a specific gravity of 1 for flavors
most actually use the right specific gravity for their nic base
and most calculators will automatically use the right specific gravity for your pg and vg

My calculator lets me set specific gravity for flavor. BUT instead of looking each one up i hit the button for it to auto calculate it based upon pg/vg content

SO since all my flavors are PG based it sets my flavors specific gravity to 1.036 Is that perfectly PRECISE? No. but it close enough. But so is using 1. you just need to decide what you are going to use, and stick with it, so your mixes all come out consistent for you. if you were making say 1 liter at a time, you might be able to notice a difference between those two calculators yo posted, but when mixing 30-60ml bottles, You would need super taste buds to notice, plus super expensive super accurate scales and pipettes to actually make the precise measurements.

just relax pick what you are doing
1 for flavors
1.036 since they are probably always PG based
or
look each and everyone up on the internet and input them into the calculator.

then always do that and you will be fine

Sweet thnx for ya help man thats pretty much summed it up for what i needed to know i aint gonna go into each flavour my taste buds are shite anyway so i think il go with the higher gram one much appreciated!! Man!!!
