Hello everyone!

Please before jokes are made, (about my name being affiliated with my question) I'm starting to get into DIY'ing.
Now I'm going to be kicking it off with a 0mg mixture of nicotine to start with, and possibly building my way up but for now I'm not worried about it so I haven't purchased any nicotine as of yet.

I guess my main question is, I've read a lot of tutorials and such about getting started but Is mixing all the ingredients together really that simple?

I'll put my example down so somebody could give me a run-down.
If i wanted:

-a solution of 80%VG and 20%PG (Yes I drip)
-0mg of nicotine (Just to start)
-1 flavoring extract (For now)
-Together in a 30ML bottle

I've used calculators for the amounts of ingredients I need to use, but they are all really simple. Am I missing something? How can I be sure I receive an 80/20 mixture. Do I add dilutes, DW? What would be perfect?

I apologize prior if this all seems confusing as I am just starting to DIY. I just want to start off on the right foot here. If it really was this simple, why is juice in such demand if everyone could just make it with 3 or 4 simple ingredients?

Thanks again for bearing with me on this one!

Yes, it really is that simple! A lot more people are getting into diy now, and seeing how much they can save. The harder part is getting to know your own tastes, and what percentages are good to you. We all have different likes/dislikes, some need light flavors and others need stronger. If you have any questions as you go along, please ask them! Lots of helpful mixers here. And have fun, most important part.

Mixing is very easy. About the most UNcomplicated thing there is.

Getting the FLAVOR ratio to your liking is the trick. Sometimes easy, sometimes hard. Just depends on you and the flavor you are working with.

I see people talking about using hot plates in some DIY posts.
Does heating the juice make mixing it easier?

(sorry if it's a bit offtopic, but I figure it could fit in since the topic is about the ease of mixing, )

As others have said, yes, DIY is that easy. Four ingredients, measure, stir.

VG is thick but thins a bit when warm. I don't heat anything but some people do. Either to thin the VG for measuring and mixing or to heat steep. It's not required.

Yessir DIY is as easy making a martini. I was a professional chef so measuring is all done by eyesite and count...
Even that gets to the point that its just robotic.

Enjoy it!!!

I agree, mixing isn't all that difficult, but maybe we could have a discussion about which method to use to measure out the liquids we're mixing: drops, ml with syringes, or by weight? How do you do it, and which is the most accurate?

I think it's personal preference. For samples of new recipes and small amounts, I use drops. For larger amounts I use syringes. I don't go through enough to use a scale.

Don't start with a 30ml bottle, it's too wasteful, unless you've got a good recipe nailed down first.
Make 5-10ml test batches first, untill you get a good recipe developed.
Use a good DIY calc, like Ejuicemeup, and make records.

If your using an e juice calculator it should tell you how much vg and how much pg....You have to physically type in the percentage you want of each however...the calculator does the rest...just mix what it tells you and youll get what you want.

Where it should ask about water/vodka/pg...you need to figure your flavor percentage first as this is most likely in a pg solution...so if you want 10 percent flavoring then use 10 percent PG, as the flavoring will be adding10 percent pg as well...giving you 20% pg.

Mixing is simple, getting great tasting juice is a bit more difficult. The most important part is keeping good records, imo. If you come up with an all day vape but can't remember how you did it, you will be tearing your hair out. Also, the nic will change the taste a bit. Lots of people will mix without nic, just in case they toss the end product, you havent wasted any nic. Start small. I have a great, easy system where I add my flavors and nic and then just fill the rest of the bottle with vg. Good luck! :)

Getting great tasting juice can be easier than the mixing. I use recipes shared on the internet. There are so many, I see no reason for me to spend the time to develop my own. :p

That's true. Not every internet recipe for fried chicken is great tasting either. It is still easier to find a good one than inventing my own.

Inventing juice recipes is a hobby or business, IMO. Like being a chef. I'm just an average joe that cooks/mixes at home using tried and true recipes. Find recipe that looks good. Cook/mix it. Eat it/ vape it. Keep using if it's good and find another if it it isn't.

Easy peazy for the average dude. I'm not a master chef nor a master mixer like some here.

I started diy about 2 years ago and if i can do it i know anybody can just takes patience and will. there are quite a few different mixing methods i have tried a few. hot water bath, 20 second heated uncooked rice, ultrasonic cleaner, and now my favorite magnetic stirrer lol

*edit* also what i do as i use only VG base and VG nic, after i put both of those ingredients into a flask i sit in warmish hot water for 20 seconds only to thin out the VG then i add flavor then put it on a magnetic stirrer and let it do its magic

Pulling this thread back up,

I've had a few months of DIYing now and I love it!
A bucket full of different extracts and sweeteners and over 300 bottles which I've been vaping and giving out to friends.

Thanks everyone!
