The Moon Knight trailer and synopsis has been unmasked, and fans have noticed that street-smart cab driver Jake Lockley is missing from both.

Marvel released a full-length trailer for Moon Knight during the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams Wild Card game on Monday night, offering fans a first real look at the upcoming series. Many people embraced the chaos of the footage whilst others took to social media to comment on the notable absence of one of the eponymous vigilante's identities.

The trailer shows Oscar Issac at war with multiple personalities, including Steven Grant, who is not the millionaire playboy of the comics here, but rather a gift-shop employee. The character's role in the series is confirmed by the show's official synopsis, which also leaves out Marc Spector's Jake Lockley persona, just like the footage that was unveiled along with it.

"The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life," the synopsis reads. "Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc's enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt."

The fact that Lockley wasn't name-dropped in the trailer or the synopsis sparked curiosity among Moon Knight fans as many of them wondered whether the titular mercenary's moustached alter-ego would be making an appearance in the series or whether he had been erased from the storyline altogether. Check out some of the remarks below:

Introduce Steven.

Mention Marc with that horrified overtone.

As usual, Jake Lockley gets no respect. #MoonKnight pic.twitter.com/QYc4dql59U

Some people refused to believe that Lockley wouldn't be included in the series; they screengrabbed various frames from the trailer and quizzed whether Issac could be posing as the character, even though he didn't seem to visibly match the profile. After all, Steven Grant has seemingly had a shake-up from his comic book counterpart.

Others thought he was simply absent from the trailer in order to maintain an air of mystery around the show, with a few people thinking that the Lockley persona could even be saved for a potential second season of the MCU show — should he not make an appearance in the first season, which will premiere on Disney+ on March 30, 2022, as part of Marvel's Phase 4 roster.
