MXJO IMR 18650 3.7V 2500MAH 35A

I am new to the sub ohm vaping and just got a single battery mech mod, I have been vaping my box mod at 100w with a .2 ohm dual coil for a while now and just wanted to try out the mech mod. Just got my Troll RDA in and am looking to build a coil for it. I know there is risk with going sub ohm on mech mods so looking for a few people to tell me what risk I would run to use a MXJO IMR 18650 3.7V 2500 MAH 35A with a .2 ohm coil?

Bottom Line
This is a very good 20A continuous discharge current (CDR) cell, equaling the Samsung 25R. At 25A it gets very hot. This is not a 35A cell and, in my opinion, you should not run this cell above 20A.

Comments
  • At 10A the discharge almost reached 2800mAh, this is very good performance for a 2800mAh-rated cell.
  • At 20A the cell had a higher-than-average maximum temperature of 82°C, about the same as the Samsung 30Q and LG HG2.
  • The cell performed quite well at 20A, lasting a bit longer than a Samsung 25R but with very similar voltages under load.
  • At 25A the cell reached a max temperature of 97°C. This is a way too high a temperature for a cell to operate at and is very close to my safety limit of 100°C.
  • Discharges were not done at 30A or 35A due to the very high temperature seen during the 25A test.
  • An additional five cycles at 20A showed no signs of damage other than that expected from running a cell at its CDR for several cycles.
  • A second 10A discharge also showed only the changes in voltage and capacity normally expected after several cycles at the cell's rating.
  • I am setting a CDR of 20A for this cell. I think you will get decent cycle life due to the minimal damage shown at that current level. It is a very good 20A cell. But, in my opinion, you should not run this cell at above 20A.
  • This cell has a top shape very close to the 25R. The inkjet codes on the can are also similar to the 25R. But, it runs hotter than the 25R, and lasts longer, so I don't know if it's a rewrapped 25R or not. It certainly is a very good 20A cell, no matter which one it is.
So, assuming a 20amp cdr on that cell, realistically you can probably get away with .2, but .25 would be a safer minimum to shoot for IMO.
