Since trying it I love it, have not tried a lot with it yet, but plan to. Works very well in making a coconut cream sort of thing.

Can this be used as a substitute for EM or TFA Sweetener, or is it not quite as sweet as those?

I have Meringue kicking around but I've run out of Cotton Candy and I need a sweetener, if meringue isn't an ideal substitute would you recommend I buy TFA Sweetener, or Cotton Candy?

thanks HIC, always appreciate your help!

Meringue isn't a sweetener, but it's a sweet flavor. It has a tangy effect, too. With fruits, I think Meringue works better than sweeteners.

If you need some kind of powerful sweetener - in my opinion, the Sucralose kind doesn't mute other flavors as much as as the Cotton Candy (ethyl maltol) kind can. I don't like the way Sucralose and Cotton Candy make other flavors taste after they sit around a while. When I used them, I made sure to vape it right away. Meringue doesn't smother flavors like the other can, but it doesn't go with everything.

Thanks HIC!

Meringue: 3-4%.

By itself this tastes like those crisp, airy, tiny Italian cookies that melt in your mouth. It's a delicate flavor and an ideal sweetener for fruits.

Add a little Meringue to your favorite fruit for a sugar-sprinkled taste.

Equal quantities of Meringue and Fresh Cream serve to 'moisten' and sweeten dry-tasting flavors or recipes.

Using Meringue with just a little added fruit makes a flavored Italian meringue cookie - lots of people could vape that all day long. Strawberry meringues are a popular Italian treat.

Excellent sweetener for FA Cookie, especially if you're not using Caramel or Butterscotch in the recipe.

Also useful to sweeten many bakery or coffee flavors, but start with just 0.5% to get sweetness without meringue flavor.

Hey HIC, Would Meringue work as a sweetener in something like peach green tea? I know tea doesn't really seem like the type of thing that it would, but a lot of peach flavor is in there and tiny bit of mango too. I am starting to dislike normal sweetener, it seems to fade or even make flavors fade maybe. Em seems better overall for me, even if it mask a bit, I do like the body it can give, but jury is still out. Thanks!

You could use meringue, but honey sounds like it would go really well in a peach green tea! FA honey is really strong to me, so I'd only use a tiny bit - like 0.25% to start.

Yeah, it is super strong...sort of gives a fermented/beer taste when mixed too strong, I mixed it once at 1% with peach tea and it took over a bit much, they were delicate flavors though. I may try it at .25%, it does go well with it sure enough.

I am trying to match a vendor's peach green tea, it is not super flashy, but it has a good balance of flavors, and I like it, sometimes less is more for me. Once I get it, I can move on to other stuff, and it will finally be out of my head lol. I have made so damn many versions, some are way different than the target, but good, or good enough to where i can tweak them up pretty easily. One will definitely have honey....but not at 1% like before! :)

Actually, that might work better than it sounds at first, because it goes so well with Peach and White Peach. Give it a try!

Honey also would taste great with the peach. First make a tiny bottle of 10% Honey (90% your nic base), then use that bottle at 1%, and work up if you want more. That allows you to easily add a very tiny bit, which is all you usually need for FA Honey. Properly diluted, it's a fantastic, realistic honey flavor.
I could taste how good the hone could be, even at the way too high for peachy tea 1% out of the bottle. I sort of thought it may have to be diluted more than even using it at .25, but could tell it was not bad, and could be very real mixed right, just DAMN strong. I guess I got my money's worth on that honey, a honey bacco and finally a tea in the works! Thanks for the suggestion.

I will try the meringue on the next mix, when not just trying to make a clone that has been in my head for a while, about there though. It does sound funny really using meringue, but it could work, being how peachy the tea is, and if it gets a tad cream like....well cream in tea is good so.

When you're right, you're right -- as you so often are. I hadn't seen this, but I had decided that Honey was not gag-inducing like I had originally thought, just strong as all-get-out! I don't *quite* no my added percentage of the Honey, but I make a 20% dilution in PG and add that in at one drop per 5 mL when I want a sweet honey taste. [I use the regular thin-tip PET bottles.] The crazy thing is that even at a 20% dilution with one drop per 5 mL, it still may be a tad too much, but when working on teas and the like it is so damned authentic that for those recipes it is, for me, a must-have.

Heck, a 3 mL from Pure Vapes or a 5 mL from Eliquidmart, the way I use it, will make either a 15 mL or a 20 mL of a great honey flavoring that I'll rarely run out of unless making HUGE batches (something I don't currently do).

FlavourArt Honey: completely authentic; very strong and very sweet. Dilute the dilution! LOL

Wow. My last bottle has gone virtually untouched since I got it. Prior to that, I almost could not stop mixing with this flavor and kept having to order more. I was just madly in love with this flavor. I repeat, I was madly in love with this flavor. This last bottle irked the bejeezus out of me because I KNOW I was mixing my own recipes correctly and accurately, but they did not have the same taste -- not at all really. I just thought, well, I just gave up on it. Dang!

@HeadInClouds, I hate to speculate or insinuate, but do you think some original ingredient or something got 86ed after some testing? I never tasted anything "buttery" in it (though I don't think I can taste the type of trace FA tests for), but I can't imagine why it would need to be altered unless something like this surfaced. It would seem to me that it is definitely not the same as it was. Shame!

Well, phooey! That is sure going to mess up our favorite recipes! Sugary Almond Apple Tart had it's own topper on my daily rotation! It is one of the 4 that hubby likes! Ok, so I'll give it a try with marshmallow, but it will not be the same. Thank you for digging into this for us, @HeadInClouds, and sharing the information.

That recipe has Marzipan, not Meringue! No problem there!

I've made several of my own recipes that call for Meringue with the newer Meringue and with Marshmallow, to try side-by-side. Only Lemon Meringue Pie tasted good to me with the newer flavoring (it tastes better than ever, imo). Everything else I've tried (5 recipes, but I'm finding a clear trend) tastes closer to what I intended when using Marshmallow instead -- especially recipes with lots of fruit!

It's kinda weird but, and maybe I am alone in this, the last bottle I got still smelled the same but it just doens't taste the same. That is why I thought I was just going a bit buggy. It is not bad now, and people only familiar with this flavor will likely appreciate it, but some of my good and simple recipes ain't working now -- at least not like how they are supposed to.

It's possible other people won't notice this as much as I have! For the sake of other vapers' taste buds, I hope that's the case.

I checked my gmail. My good meringue, in an original bottle, came from BCV around November 14 last year.

The current one in use is from Eliquid Mart. It seems fine. I also have a newer bottle, got it from Mama J's, but will have to look at my email, too. It's not crystal clear. Smells the same.

Man I don't think mine was every clear. I've only ever had two 5 mil bottles from eliquidmart ugh the second one is definitely not clear a very light amber but it tastes just like I remember...delicious. Who knows maybe I have only had the not so good version and never even knew it hah! But hey I'm still gonna say that sucks dude.:(

I didn't see your update about Meringue until after I mixed a 30ml of your Creamy Strawberry Malt :( I wonder how much it will effect what it's supposed to taste like. I was looking forward to the Strawberry Malt so it will be a huge disappointment if the Meringue trashed it. I'm not familiar with the flavor at all as this is the first time I've used it. I purchased it from BCV very recently. A 10ml in the original bottle with a batch number of 2015/2115. It looks to be as clear as spring water.

I don't think it'll wreck that recipe for a few reasons: it's 0.5% out of 8+%, it has more Marshmallow than Meringue, and the flavor is not incompatible with malt/chocolate. If you mix a batch of that one, (label it with the date!), give it try fresh, then give it a try a few days later - and I'll bet it's fine. If you mix it, please let us know! The more info the better, to help figure out a solution for all of us in all recipes.

So far, it's almost sounding like an over-baked meringue. So sad. You'd mentioned that even as low as 0.25 still messed it up. I'm wondering if a dilution of the flavoring would be any different? Guessing not. Since I can't replicate it, I'm trying to think, think, think, but "I got nuthin'".

Amber?
Marshmallow/Meringue
Fresh Cream/Meringue
Vanilla Classic or Vanilla Bourbon with...
Pandoro?

This is a true loss!

I think it's just a little inconsistent, or is easily affected by age or handling/storage conditions. I've bought it 3 times (all from FA UK)...

May 2014 - 4ml-ish sample in 10ml bottle - only a drop or two left, looks fairly clear, tastes OK if fairly weak
Sept 2014 - 10ml in FA bottle with fat dripper - yellow tinge, slightly eggy (?), not so sugary tasting
March 2015 - 10ml in new-style orange FA bottle - completely clear, sugary tasting

I've been using the Sept 2014 one quite happily, so when I say "slightly eggy (?)", I mean it's not particularly distinct and am just using your descriptive term. I don't get any obvious sulphorous odour from it, for example. I might just as happily describe it as perhaps a more buttery taste. One thing's for sure though, the Sept 2014 and March 2015 don't taste the same, are different colours... and the later one is better.

I just got this response from FlavourArt:

"------ Reply above this above

In respons to your ticket "Meringue".

Hello
You have been wrongly informed as the flavor is the same as before.
No changes from our side.

Cordiali saluti/Best regards,

Massimiliano"

Any changes you've noticed must be flawed batches.

Will watch this with interest - never had Meringue but have it loaded in a BCV cart I'm trying to push over $75 to get wifey a few more bottles of her beloved FA Rose & Forest Fruit (hey, any excuse to add more flavors to the arsenal, and quit hating on the Rose!). May steer clear and look for some other flavors as I was really looking for a fruit accent since we don't vape a lot of bakery flavors around here...

I'm not yet ready to post a thorough conclusion but will second what @Badgerfacedcat wrote. FlavourArt has also confirmed with me, they have NEVER changed their formula for Meringue. Additionally, it is all produced at a single facility.

I Mixed your Strawberry Malt on May 8th. Vaped it not long after your reply to me in this thread and I was getting a slight hint of a nutty, buttery taste along with some cocoa. I put it away and let it sit, shaking it whenever I thought about it over the last few days. I tried it again a few minutes ago and it's very nice. I'm getting a light malty chocolate flavor on the inhale and then I can taste a very light smooth caramel. I *think* I'm tasting the sweetness of a strawberry, but it's hard to tell. I seem to have a hard time tasting strawberry in ejuice. Maybe I should bump it up another 0.5? I mixed it at 60vg/40pg. In any case, I don't seem to be tasting anything bad due to the meringue, but maybe this isn't the best recipe for testing meringue because like you said, it's a small % in total.

OK, what meringue should I order then. Putting my starter order together, should I get a different brand meringue or take my chances with the FA?

LOL....well, guess that decision is easy. There goes those assumptions again....I guess that is why I couldn't find any flavor reviews on other brands in my research ;)
