Y'all remember that game show? OK, well, anyone that can name this tune from this 2 second clip gets a fabulous, amazing, almost unbelievable prize. Actually I don't think it's a hard one but since they always gave a hint I guess I will. The earliest known recording of this American folk song dates back to 1933, with evidence that the song itself is much older. It's been recorded by various artists since in different forms, including Woodie Guthrie, Lead Better, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan and Nina Simone though it wouldn't be popularized until a folk rock version was released in 1964. Won't tell you by who, that would make it too easy. But name that group and the song for a bonus prize.

All right, maybe I just wasn't playing it in an animalistic enough fashion, or maybe people need to hear a couple more seconds.

Don't make me add any more, or the wonderful awesome amazing prize gets cut in half.

Seriously? Even with that great big hint in bold still no guesses? Sigh, ok, guess I'll give you more. But I was going to give out gold stars with the words Amazing, Awesome, Fabulous, Wonderful, etc on them. Now the prize will be a single star, it won't be gold, and it will only have writing if I feel generous, probably the word Meh. :giggle:

Ding Ding Ding - we have a winner! If I'm feeling motivated enough, I may actually get around to recording the whole thing and putting it on YT, but for now, I'll just add another post later with the amount of it that I did play while while sitting by the river before someone heard me and came over to talk. Not ready to sing it since I'm still trying to get the playing down pat.

As you can see I was struggling a bit trying to play completely from memory, and then stopped because some random stranger was approaching. (Reginald, good dude, way more confident than me to walk up to a stranger and start a conversation just because he heard me playing)

Google AI nailed it from this, but that's just cheating, lol.

Most of that comes from Wikipedia, so Google AI didn't have to work very hard I guess.
