Nebox RBA: Does Yours Fit?

For anyone who has successfully used the Nebox with the RBA:
Did anyone have a slight difficulty getting it to fit? I can't get the mod back together when I tried to use it in place of the Ni200 atty. Observations:

--The RBA is the same height as the Ni200s.
--The RBA fits in the tank chamber without the tank cover... and the tank cover fits by itself, or with the Ni200 attached.
--The RBA is in perfect condition; the screw is NOT sticking out.
--The RBA is screwed all the way into the tank cover/plug.

I can't use any more force to try screwing it back together. Only similar issue I found was on Reddit... but it appeared that the OP's RBA wouldn't even fit inside the tank on its own... that's not the case here.

Hey, I get to answer my own question.

The RBA is a press-fit. It might be just an unfortunate coincidence that the need to start pressing happens just as the threads of the cover hit the threads of the box.

So it does work? It just means its harder to thread the cap in?

It works. A little tricky. My problem is that I didn't know WHY it was happening, and didn't want to strip the threads.

--So that would have been helpful to read in the effing "manual."
--Also, that the two SSOCC attys included in the box have different ohm readings. 0.5 and 0.15. The only reason I noticed was because Kanger uses color-coded grommets. How many people are going to overlook this and think the Nebox is jacked up?
--Also, that the pre-built RBA has a THIRD ohm reading. I blindly (stupidly) took a big hit after screwing it in, and it nearly knocked me to the floor. It's clocking in at 0.38, according to the mod.

That comes across as cranky. Maybe I shouldn't be posting this morning.

It's common to incldude OCCs of different resistances with an atty. Note that the 0.15 is Ni200 and should be used with the tc setting:p

I laughed at the RBA coil. I have mornings like that pre coffee.

Next you're going to tell me that the .5 isn't Ni200. I promise all of you... I have tried multiple sites to figure out what coils they included, esp that loose one. Assuming Ni200, but yeah.

One online reviewer got a Nebox free to test, and STILL had to call the company to figure out what was included.

This is a rhetorical question: Don't vape companies realize what their major customer base is?
My wife bought this at a vape shop. They set it up for her. She brought it home and handed me the cardboard box of parts. Why? She wants to vape, not research. She even told me a long time ago, "If I have to learn everything you have to learn, I'm going back to cigarettes."

[Note I'm bitching on this thread, and not on the other Nebox threads. Don't want to poison them with my apparently short-term crankiness. Ha.]

Oh dear - vape shops are notoriously useless at explaining things to customers! No, the 0.5 is nichrome I believe - so it's just used on power setting. Also there apppears to be a major issue with the TC on this box, so when mine comes I likely won't use the Ni200 coil at all!

I'll be rebuilding the RBA with titanium (don't ask), so I started gathering info for math reasons. The .15 SSOCC atty is nickel... haven't taken it apart yet. The extra/loose coil is 26 gauge/6 wrap, with an inner diameter of approx 2.6mm... metal unknown.

Have you watched any videos reviewing this box where they discuss the temp control?

I read your post and watched some. If I had to boil my takeaway down to one sentence: Looks like there's temperature control, but little-to-no temperature protection. Other than that, I walked away with a pile of good info. Thanks.

hello all, first time mod owner and first time posting. i received my nebox a few weeks ago and i absolutely love it. i started with the .5/.15 coils but quickly moved to the RBA. the RBA is awesome! coil for months.. new wick whenever i feel like..

I do have a couple of questions --
First, does anyone know what type of coil came with the RBA from kanger? is it TC or Kanthal?
Second, what coils/cotton would you recommend with the RBA setup for the NEBOX?

Believe that theyre NiChrome coils, but I could be wrong.

Use it in power mode (it's not Ti or Ni).

I use rayon with all my rbas, but failing that japanese cotton works well (the Nebox probably comes with japanese cotton).

That's what i have been doing.. do you know what happens if i use temp control on these coils though?

Also, what coil/wick pack do you recommend to use with the RBA+? i see the kanger 20 pack.. anything better?

TC does nothing on kanthal or nichrome - except ruin the vape! I don't know what coils you can buy for the RBA - it's not hard to make your own though!

From what I've read the TC doesn't work properly on this box. I have one coming in the mail, but I probably won't bother with the TC after reading all the reviews. You won't get dry hits (which is really the point of TC) unless you run the tank dry in any event.

Thanks. Any advantages to using nichrom VS kanthal for RBA coils?

Not as far as I've ever noticed. Now ss does make a difference to my taste (I find it even cleaner, and you can use that in power mode also).

From my experience with TC you really get the most benefit out of it in a dripper, as AmandaD said, in a tank youre really not in danger of dry hits if you wick right and keep it full.

I'm having to play detective, because I haven't tried contacting Kanger yet. I will be referencing the four coils/attys that come with the Nebox.
1) .15 ohm SSOCC atty
2) .5 ohm SSOCC atty
3) coil in RBA, preassembled
4) loose coil inside screwdriver bag

I tore apart the .5 ohm SSOCC/vertical coil atty and took measurements. I also took measurements of the loose coil.

First, does anyone know what type of coil came with the RBA from kanger? is it TC or Kanthal?
I'm assuming you meant Ti or Kanthal, right? Kanger mentions Ni200, Titanium and Nichrome in the manual, but doesn't make it clear why, which is odd, considering that Nichrome doesn't work for TC. (Kanthal doesn't either.)

Believe that theyre NiChrome coils, but I could be wrong.
Just went to Steam Engine and played with wires/resistance numbers. With that knowledge... none of the coils that come with the Nebox can be Nichrome or Kanthal. On one review video I saw, a guy said he called Kanger and the rep mentioned stainless-coated nickel. Well, if you go by various resistance numbers, stainless is the only wire Steam Engine includes that can come close to the what's in the box (but note that I haven't taken apart the .15 ohm atty yet).

Also, what coil/wick pack do you recommend to use with the RBA+? i see the kanger 20 pack.. anything better?

Coils: I will be building my own, and decided against Ni200. Lightning Vapes carries 20, 22, 24, and 26 AWG Titanium. I'm picking 26, because it will come closest to the correct number of wraps for these rebuilds. And if I need something thicker, I'll be able to twist a couple strands.
Wicking: If you want to go with the majority opinion, get organic cotton. If you want to rebuild the vertical-coil .15 and .5 SSOCC attys, you'll need that really flat/thin cotton (is it bacon cotton?).

***Opinion Alert: People will vigorously disagree.***
No way I'm trying vertical builds in those tiny attys, at least for a while. So I'm sticking with standard rebuilds. And run-of-the-mill boiled/dried cotton balls, since I've been using them for multiple years now with brilliant results, and haven't noticed a difference when I've tried organic. But if it's going to irritate people... pretend I said I will be going out tomorrow and buying organic cotton.

I'll post an update when I get the titanium wire, and/or when I hear back from Kanger.

Mine came today, and put in the 0.5 ohm coil. I forget where I found the info, but I think it's stainless steel - it seems like that to me.

Loving it so far!
