hey guys. new to diy. I have made a couple decent mixes so far but not what I am looking for yet. I am trying to add a little more tartness to my juice and am not having any luck. my primary ingredients are tfa ripe strawberry and wild blueberry, along with some cream and custards and cheesecakes, depending on the sample batch I am making. I have made some decent ones but they all lack the tartness I am looking for. is there something I can add? or a good fruit or berry that naturally has it? I tried some malic acid and while I did improve the flavor, it wasn't really what I was going for. any help is appreciated thanks

FA Blackcurrant! It is a sweet-and-tart, berry-like flavor that would be especially good with the other fruits you're using. Just add 0.5% or so.
Your favorite kiwi flavor can often do that, too.
Thanks! I added the kiwi and its definitely getting closer. I did a mix with (INA) black currant at .5% and it seemed to really overpower the other fruits. I'm going to try with .25 next mix. Do you happen to be familiar with the INA black currant? it seems more bitter than tart. if that makes sense.... do you think I should order it from FA instead?

I made a FA Fuji Apple with TFA Sour and it wasn't as tart either. Then I added 0.2-0.3% FA Bitter Wizard that did the trick for me.

yeah, I'm not too sure how I feel about the tfa sour, it seems to make flavors pop at first and I like it, but after steeping for a week or two I usually prefer identical mixes where I left it out. I think I'm going to do an order from FA this week. I realized the flavor I might actually be going for is more like a sour apple than I thought, I tried some granny smith (I don't know who makes it) and it had this weird spice flavor to it, very cinnamon, came out awful. ill order the Fuji and bitter wizard as well!

I'm having a Green Apple Sour (Granny Smith) by German Flavor on route. I'll let you know how that will turn out.

I am having a similar issue. I am using 12% TFA Green Apple, and about 1.5% Lorann's tart and sour. I am slowly adding a little more tart every few days and testing again, but just not right yet. Trying for Jolly rancher apple, and it does taste like it, just not tangy enough yet. Has anyone ever used tart and sour before and if so what percentages?

As promised, regarding the Green Apple Sour (Granny Smith). I have posted my findings in a thread, that's all about the flavors made by German Flavours. See page 3 post #103 in http://vapingunderground.com/threads/german-flavors-from-vaperstek-reviews-by-wllmc.42991/page-3

I'll give you an update when I successfully finish my Sour Apple (I mean sour). I noticed, the apple flavor fades over time. Therefore, I make just 60ml at a time. So far, and still not perfect, my mix consists of the following:
0.20% FA Bitter Wizard
4.00% FA Fuji Apple
2.50% TFA Sour

I think, I'll try HIC's recommendation and add some FA Kiwi, once it arrives.

The FA Kiwi has arrived, and I added some to my existing Apple mixture. It didn't improve the sour/tart flavor. However, it did enhance the Apple flavor.

I can't help you with the sour part. But I typically use 1 or 2 drops per 15ml of juice, too enhance a fruit flavor. Based on their own recommendations, it would take up to 5 times that amount to bring it to the point of sour. But going by what you've added, you're well above that. So I've got nothing :/

I have one last thought/try that I want to do, in order to get that real sour/tart (almost acidic) that I'm looking for. I have ordered something that I'll try. I'll keep you posted with my findings.

I have tried another version for getting a SOUR Apple going.

0.20% FA Bitter Wizard
3.00% FA Fuji Apple
3.00% Green Apple (sour) by German Flavours bought at http://www.vaperstek.org
1.00% FA Kiwi
2.00% Citric Acid (15% in alcohol) from Nude Nicotine.

However, that doesn't work well either. More than 2% of citric acid makes the juice taste really funny. I wonder if adding the 2% TFA Sour to the mix, and incrementing the FA Bitter Wizard to 0.5% might help. I might give that a try. I'll keep you posted.
