I got a brand new smok priv v8 for a friend a while back and yesterday she told me it won't work. I looked at it and it keeps flashing lights, 5 times to be exact. I changed a few battery but it still only show lights flashing 5 times.

I cant do anything else until I get pass this stage.

Apologies for taking a bit to get to this for you. Hopefully, what I looked up can offer some help.
First off, you should check your battery to ensure it is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged, there is a chance that your battery could be worn out or possibly even a counterfeit.

If a new battery that is fully charged does not fix this problem, you could have an issue inside the mod where you are shorting out the cell causing a dangerous situation. The voltage detection inside the mod could also be broken, send it back to SMOK for warranty repairs.

1. 8 seconds protection: the LED light will blink 5 times when the power button is held for longer than 8 seconds, and the battery will automatically shut down the output.

2. Resistance protection: when the atomizer resistance is lower than 0.1 ohms or higher than 2.5 ohms, the LED light will blink 4 times and the battery will automatically shut down the output.

3. Low voltage protection: when battery capacity is lower than 3. 3V, the LED light will blink 15 times and the battery will automatically shut down the output.

The chips in your mod are probably compromised or have shorted due to juice being on them, especially with power being run through them... (that has a removable battery correct?), ...it's generally recommended to charge those externally, especially with smok and some other manufacturers devices, for a couple of reasons to long to explain right at this second...but usb charging isn't inherently bad, but it IS bad when you have a unit filled with juice! ;( )...
